Ten days into my internship and I’m settling in very well. The girls at
KAAT are very welcoming and have made me feel extremely comfortable. I’m so
glad that I’m working in a comfortable environment because I know how difficult
it can be as the ‘outsider’ and ‘newbie’ on the block. At the end of the day if
you don’t like where you’re working it can really have a toll on your work
performance.
As KAAT is an event business, so far event preparation has been one of
the main tasks I have been involved in. My first upcoming event is a 1st
birthday. The adorable girl is called Chanel, and of course she’s having a
princess themed party.
When meeting with Chanel’s mum she told us that we could handle majority
of the event prep and that she was open to ideas. During the meeting we had
given her a few suggestions, which she was quite pleased with. She was overall
happy with the outcomes of our first meeting and very impressed with our
professionalism.
Once she confirms the ideas, arrangements and transfers the funds we
will be able to start purchasing some items such as cutlery and decorations.
Other things we will have to complete is a running sheet for the day of the
event and placing a hire order for the tables and chairs. Chanel’s mum also
wishes to have a photographer on the day, which I will be in charge of.

seating on the day.
Another important factor of the party that Chanel’s mum wanted was a
large birthday banner. We designed 4 banner options for her to choose from and
gave her different colour schemes for each.
Whilst doing event preparation I have also been involved with handling
KAAT’s Facebook and Instragm accounts. Recently I have been posting event inspiration
and some updates about Chanel’s birthday. Continuously updating and posting to
social media accounts will aim to increase KAAT’s awareness and intern bring in
