I am now four weeks into my internship and
what an experience I am having! I have been lucky enough to be selected to
complete my internship with Detail Marketing Communications. Detail is a
boutique PR and marketing agency based in Fremantle. I work with a team of two
who are extremely passionate about the work they produce and their clients. Detail’s
focus is on luxury, lifestyle, culture and community with such clients as
Allure, Rottnest Island, Kitchen Warehouse and the Institute of Architects.
Considering I have had 3 years’ experience as
an Executive Assistant in the mining and resources industry, I knew that
corporate PR was not for me. Hence why I have been fortunate enough to gain my
internship at Detail. The past four weeks have absolutely flown by, and I have
enjoyed every minute. Thus far I have attended conferences, photo shoots, live
media crosses, worked on email pitches and CSA requests as well as sit in on
client meetings. The internship at Detail is a hand’s on experience and I
wouldn’t have it any other way.
It has been great for me to witness the
relationship that Detail builds with their clients and to see the gratitude
from clients. I personally believe there is nothing more satisfying than seeing
your client happy while also being able to give back or contribute to the
community. I was yet to decide whether I would prefer working for a consultancy
and I still am unsure, however I do love the ‘boutique’ aspect of Detail and
the fact that they have such a close relationship with all clients.
Every day is a new experience and I am so
looking forward to the next two months ahead!
