Do:
- Answer the 5 Ws : who, what, where, when and why ?
- Write in third person
- Follow proper punctuation and formats
- Create a catchy headline!
Dont:
- Exaggerate and make false claims
- Write more than 500 words
- Trash others/competitors
- Use inappropriate languages or exclamation marks !!!
Writing my very first press release for the company, following the success of the Miri Country Music Festival and Planet Borneo as its official tour operator my supervisor had asked me specifically to prepare a press release that was sent out to different newspapers. A detailed press release is vital for a good press release, add in the most important and relevant information based on your topic, remember not to stray away from the main body of content if not you may confuse the editors and they might not publish it. Thankfully my writings were publish, even if it was a short article.
May It be the first of many for my Public Relations carrier !!!
