Internship at a Parastatal Body company

After having applied to almost four companies, among which: MPA, BOI, Orange and Engen...Central Water Authoruty (CWA) was the only company which reverted back to me. I had already experienced two internships in the past two years one which is under the same ministry (Energy and Public Utilities), namely the Waste Water Management Authority and the other one is the Mauritius Post Limited.I was surprised that actually, the CWA is such a large company whereby there is so much to do and so much to learn. I am posted in the communication cell and the name itself reveals everything. It is indeed a very small office which can accomodate only four persons. Small yet cozy, I was given the desk which was occupied by a colleague who later went on maternity leave.

Since I joined the company, the first thing I expected I would be told to do is Press Cuttings. And the rush each morning is incredible as we should email all the press cuttings at latest  9.30 am. However, sending the press cuttings at 9.30 am, should I say is merely impossible. In each newspaper, there are atleast no more than two or three articles on the CWA about its distribution of water, shortage of water and change in the hours of supply. The three main newspapers that the communication cell has to scan are Le Matinal, L'express and Le Défi Quotidien. The fun part was to meet the journalists who would come the office to interview the spokesperson of the CWA. Watching how an interview is performed was a unique experience.
