Assisting Department of Government Housing Public Education Program

Hi bloggers,

So i am half way through my internship at the Department of Government Housing helping out  with their corporate communications team. I have been supervised by the Attorney general's manger for the Department of Government housing cooperate communications team, Steve Anthem. Steve has been very helpful in assisting me gain knowledge about the organisation in terms of who the key stakeholder's are, as well as the key roles and responsibilities each member of the pr team are expected carry out.

Currently i am helping assist the Department of Housing pr team on a project called "The Public Education program" this a program designed in order to resolve the issue with the housing provided within the Elizabeth Quay devolvement.  Furthermore following negative press around the allocation of affordable housing at Elizabeth Quay and recent comments in parliament by the opposition spokes person for housing, the honourable Fran Logan. in addition, the pr team are going to embark on a public education program to.
1.     Inform the public on the benefits of affordable housing in all areas of Perth.
2.     Help Distinguish Difference between public housing and affordable housing
3.     Dispel prejudices and community prejudices against social Housing.
4.     Explain Perth’s proud history of providing history for low-income workers and those who cannot work.
5.     Promote Housing opportunities provided by the government through assistance and the state affordable Housing strategy including;
·      Bond lone Assistance
·      National rental affordability Scheme offering rentals at 80% of the market rent.

·      Community housing offered by registered housing providers such as foundation housing, Access housing, centre care and the Salvation Army.
·      Share equity Scheme where government retains a share of the property.
·      Low deposit lone’s offered through key start.  

As result of being able to help assist the pr team with this program i am given a greater insight into how much time and effort goes into a project as such as this. as result of reading this, hopefully you are able to gain a greater insight into the projects and plans ahead for the Department of Government Housing.
