It's not the end yet!

Hey everyone!  What I want to share today is what I've done and learnt through one of the wedding fair event during my internship. I'm glad that my supervisor gave me the chance to take part in it and to learn and see how they plan and organise the event. The launching of the wedding fair was held on the day after the duration of my internship, so I requested to work one more day to stay back and join them. What is one more extra day when one can learn more right? So, the task that I have done to prepare for the launching of the wedding fair was to write a media release, invite media to come over during the launching event and etc.

LASTLY

I love PR, I love my job, I guess I know what my direction is and where I want to go after I graduate. I love and enjoy all the tasks I have done throughout the one month internship. I have made the right choice majoring in PR. PR internship is a great unit to prepare students to gain more experience and learn more before stepping into the real working world. I'm looking forward to see how my future is going to be, keep calm! It’s not the end yet ;)

Experiences is the best teacher

Hi all, this is my third post. I want to share with you what I have done and learnt on the third week of my internship.
Other than preparing media releases, one of the tasks that I enjoy doing was photo shooting. I learnt a lot on different skills such as how to take the best angle of different delicious dishes, hotel rooms, and swimming pools. I also learned a lot on different colors settings to make the picture livelier during my internship. Before my internship, I did not know that skills and techniques for photo shoots are important for a PR person too because a clear images with a good lighting are important aspects to make a photo stand out.
I remember one day during the third week of my internship, I was told to take the best angle of a photo for their new food promotion which is "Sarawak Laksa" in Han Palace Restaurant, and I also got the chance to try their delicious Sarawak Laksa after I was done taking different angles of the laksa. Since I've tried the laksa, I was then able to describe how it tasted. So my second task was to design a table tent card.

Throughout this internship, I learnt how to use the software (CorelDraw) to design things. At first, I was not familiar with the software (CorelDraw) but with the help from my colleagues, I slowly caught up and now know how to use it which is one of the new skills I've gained from this internship.

A sneak peak on the design of the Laksa table tend card from my computer.

Experiences is the best teacher, it makes us learn more about new stuff and it makes our life                                                                             better in the future.

Let The Good Time Roll

Hi everyone :)

Before I forget, I'm here to blog about the things I've learnt from the CSR event carried out by Grand Palace Hotel.
I was assigned by my supervisor to write a media release regarding their annual community project which is to carry out an event for the purpose of fulfilling Grand Palace Hotel’s corporate social responsibility. As it was the Ramadhan month, they decided to show their love and care towards the orphans through the event by breaking fast with the orphans at Kompleks Kebajikan Hamidah Miri. The buffet dinner was sponsored by Grand Palace Hotel. I'm glad that my supervisor gave me the opportunity to join the event as well.

LEARN FROM MISTAKES:
The tasks that I was assigned to do during the event was to be their photographer and assist my colleague to interact with journalists and orphans. It was my first time dealing with journalists, so I was kind of nervous. After I gave out the media release that I've written, I was supposed to communicate more with the journalists, but I didn't. The journalists then left after a while without any of us noticing. The lesson I've learnt from this is that it is really important when it comes to handling journalists. As a PR person we must know the DOs and DONTs on how to handle journalists. As for my case, I've learnt that communication skills are really important for a PR person. I must then learn from this mistake and deal with it appropriately. What is important is to improve oneself to become a better and more professional PR person.
Anyways, the event went well. Before I end my post, let me show you some pictures

We were there to serve the orphans.
Green "Angpao" was given to the orphans.

Yay! ^^v I survived the first week of my intern!

Thanks God I survived the first week of my internship! It went well and smoothly. I started the first day of my internship on 30th July 2014 in Grand Palace Hotel Miri as a PR trainee in the Marketing and Public Relations Department.

Reading through the blogs posted by my friends, I can see that everyone like me had the same feeling the on their first day of internship. I was feeling nervous and excited at the same time to work with new people in a new environment. Thank God my supervisor and colleagues are all friendly people and are willing to teach and help me when I need help. I'm happy and enjoy working with them.

The first week of my internship consists of writing different kind of press releases. The first press release I wrote was for Han Palace Restaurant & Western Palace Restaurant July's promotion. Besides that, I wrote another media release which involves Grand Palace Hotel
holding an annual community project to break fast with 80 orphans at the Orphanage Centre during the Ramadan month. As this event will be carried out tomorrow, I will update my blog again after I return from the event.

Anyways, I'm glad that I have the opportunity to experience doing PR work in a real world situation. I am excited to gain more experience and learn more in the following weeks of my internship.

My next post will most probably be updates on the corporate social responsibility event carried out by Grand Palace Hotel. See you again! :)
