I need more than 24 hours a day!

Its been about 3 weeks since my last post and I'm really busy juggling with my full time job and my internship with Thomson Catering. It will be great that i have more than 24 hours a day!

I've been busy wrapping up the website stuffs and doing the materials (calenders & vehicle dress up) that provide awareness of the company and the new website.

I am also updating the customers database so that we are able to mail out calenders once its done.

Despite the hectic schedule, there's free meals provided and helpful colleagues to work with! :)

I need to start drafting my report... =(

Writings and writings and Writings!!!

Very soon, I have come to the end of second week of my internship.

The second week has been quite a busy week for me. There are lots of writing for me to do. I am so strained at the end of each day, but I think it is totally worth it! I am able to practise and improve on my writings, hence it is a very enriching experience for me. I did writings for the company's brochure, such as the foreword, the introduction of the company, the company's services and other sections as well. Through this task that is given to me, I learnt more about the different types of wines and wines investment. This is a valuable lesson that I will never learn in school. At the same time, I am supposed to write a biography on my boss as well. I have prepared a list of questions about him for myself to work on, but I am still waiting for a good time to sit down with him so that I can know more about him.

Not only am I busy with lots of articles writing, I have start my search for jobs as well. As I am currently doing a permanent part-time job due to school commitments, I am starting to look around for a permanent full-time job as I am left with one last module to go. I do not have much luck in my job hunting so far. I have sent out about 100 applications, with less than 5 calls for interviews. This is totally depressing. I pray hard that more calls will come in so that I can find a desired job with a satisfying pay.

Okie, guess I gotta go back to my work now. I still have to finish updates on the wines information. Shall post when I am free again.

Meanwhile, please take good care everyone! The number of confirmed cases of H1N1 is increasing. Do take note of personal hygiene k!

The First Week of my Internship

Hi there,

This is my first time writing a blog, so as to say this is my virgin entry to this blog. Very soon, I am into the fifth day of my internship at this wine trading company. I cannot believe time flies during this internship. I am really enjoying every minute of this valuable experience.

For the past four days, I was given tasks on preparing tools of a media kit, which includes a backgrounder and factsheet of the company. At the same time, I was given assignment tasks for the whole month of my internship which I am looking forward to. I sincerely hope that my assignments done can be beneficial to the company.

Not only do I learn more about handling the Public Relations work here, I learnt about handling personal relationships with my colleagues too. My new colleages are very pleasant and friendly. They help me whenever I need help from them.

I am really happy that I am able to be working as an intern in this company. I am looking forward to contribute more PR work that can be beneficial to the comapny. All the best and good luck to everyone who is doing an intership right now! Hope you are having a fantastic time, just like me!

I have to get back to work now. Shall update with more posts when I have the time. :)

XOXO,

Finishing up

Hi everyone,

I am so glad the internship is finishing up. And glad too that I produced good results for the publicity that I had done for my clients. I have received many praises and good reports for this, I do appreciate the opportunity to do this internship.

My 2nd last task was to do Media tracking for the publicity. I dint realise it could be so time-consuming! Partly because I do not have the neccessary equipments like a scanner that can scan proper color images. I had to scamble and look for one. And after that, made sure that the scanned image turned out good and was cropped properly and not crooked. Wow.. that took me a lot of time for just 2 article. And preparing the transcript for the radio was also .. just plain time consuming. A 10 min radio interview took me almost 2 hours to produce its transcript. i almost fainted. But i am glad its over and done with now.

Although I am coming to an end for my internship now, I still have a few loose ends to tie up. For example, a pitch to another dance group for their corporate publicity. Its interesting and I do hope that I will still be able to continue help them build their awareness. Indirectly, i am also building my portfolio for it.

My last task is to compile a debrief report and submit it to my director. Hopefully, I dont need to amend it too much! keep my fingers crossed.

Interviews

Hi everyone,

it has been a real busy and exciting week for me. I secured 2 local newspaper interviews for my client, Earth Modes Sanskrit.

The first interview was conducted by a journalist from Life! Straits Times. Straits Time is the main English newspaper in Singapore. We met at The Arts House. As one of the band members, Jamal Nasser, play an unusual musical instrument, the didgeridoo, the journalist was interested to cover the band leader and another one of the member. The journalist also got her photographer to take a few shots of the band members to publish on the article.

I believe it was an eye-opener for her as Jamal introduced to her the different techniques of blowing the wind instrument, didgeridoo. And Bryan Lucas, another percussionist in the band, was also giving her tips about playing the Middle Eastern Drum, Darbuka. She also asked questions like how did the band form, what are the major performances that the band has participated in, how often did they practice, their experiences, etc.

The article was released on Saturday's Life! Edition.

The 2nd interview was with Berita Harian, our local main Malay news paper. The journalist name is Norman Sawi, he has already have 3 years experience writing for the papers. He is a very jovial journalist and the entire band enjoyed the interview. Although this was a short interview, it was a good opportunity as Norman has offered an opportunity to be featured in their new monthly magazine, Sutra. Look forward to that!

Then came the big day for THE performance!. They played 4 songs and the response was simply overwhelming. The crowd clapped together with the rhythm and more and more people joined the performance.

It was a really good experience handling the band's publicity!
