Hey guys,
This is my last post and it's a quick note for the future PR 393 students or anyone who is looking for a PR placement or work opportunities.
I did my placement for an organisation called freehands (see my first post for the background) which is not yet a not-for-profit because here in Australia you need to be incorporated and have a constitution, annual meetings, a board etc. to get this status. It looks complicated but I guess that's the way they control the different organisations.
Anyway, freehands is part of the third sector which includes the entire the not-for profit (N4P), Non-governmental (NGO) and other voluntary, community groups as well as trade unions etc. I would strongly encourage you to get a placement in those organisations as it is very rewarding and the opportunities are greater (from my point of view) than in the traditional companies. You can be creative and think outside the box without being judged or shut down and you work is more than making profits or getting another client, it is for real people who need your help.
So please, PLEASE, consider it, it is certainly not boring and you will learn a lot more as it is more challenging !!
This was my advertising type of post but it comes from the heart so think about it !;)
Enjoy your holidays, we deserve it !!
