This is my second blog entry and I wanted to talk about the highlight of my
experience working with PPR, the press launch of the MoMa series at the AGWA.
The MoMa exhibition is an art series that has travelled from New York to
bring famous art pieces from amazing artists such as Van Gogh to Perth! AGWA is
a client of PPR and since they are a government funded organization and receive
limited funding, I was able to be involved hands on because as an intern, PPR
does not charge for my help and service.
The day before the launch, I spend the afternoon putting together around a
hundred media kits for the media guests who were expected to attend the launch.
Whilst doing this I actually learnt about how events around Perth are on “the
list” of major media outlets, and depending on what news breaks in the morning determine
which events get coverage!
On the Wednesday, the day of the press launch I was given the job to hand
out the media kits, greet media guest and mark the guest list. After the
opening speeches I was able to view the amazing artwork which truly was a site
to see!
It was so good to experience an event that had taken many weeks to prepare
and to actually attend a press launch! Have in my studies written mock plans
for press releases and opening speeches, but to experience this first hand was
an absolute delight and was the highlight of my time at PPR!
