And it all begins

Doing an internship for Angelhands, a not-for profit organisation has taught me to think on my feet and be resourceful. Throughout my time at university, when attending networking events and talking to PR professionals within the not for profit sector, one of the common obstacle faced by all was funding. I never really gave it that much thought till I joined Angelhands. I was thrown into the harsh reality of how important funding is to an organisation that depends on it to pay for basic necessities.

My supervisor had a talk to me during the previous week as to how we were running low on funding, this was an area that she had highlighted during my interview too. If there was no more funding coming in within the next couple of months it could in turn see Angelhands losing our offices. And quite possibly being forced to compromise the quality of service the clients were provided with if the funds declined before the foreseen period.

Which has led us to our new fund raising campaign 100 thousand in 100 days. This is to be launched in the month of May. This new campaign involves us getting in contact with all our previous sponsors and the public for donations. As the PR Intern I have been made responsible for the media kit, media liaison and sponsorship side of things. I’ve had a chance to brush up and hone in on my skills which we learnt in the earlier PR units. This next couple of weeks are going to be really fun and interesting. Looking forward to launching the whole campaign.

Till Later,
