Hi everyone! I am currently working in Grand Palace Hotel Miri as my internship placement. As a trainee in this industry placement, what I have learned to encounter with real life circumference is to be a good listener, observant, ask for extra work and last but not least is to be friendly with each of the staff in the company. Those sounds absolutely simple and basic requirement to freshly start in new working environments but life always come out on opposite side. As a public relation person, socializing is a definite skill and technique to learn, so we able to communicate and further develop in partnership with other stakeholders. Sometimes speak out a sentence inadvertently can easily ruin the impression and image that hardly been build up for days or even months.
Public relations officers usually play a role of representative and speaker of the entire organization thence they have to plan and prepare on formal contact with external stakeholders. For me as a newbie in the company, I had tried my best to behave the greatest personality and attempt to become a part of everything. The best thing happened all along the internship period was I had been invited to Grand Palace staff party as a member of the big family. Besides, I had assisted them on preparing for the event, I am so grateful that I able to legitimately become one of them and experience this as an employee.
The first things that appointed by my supervisor on staff party preparation were to call out for sponsorship, whereby there were nearly 70 interstate companies and organizations I had called out and asked for the confirmation of sponsorship. It took me the whole day to finish calling them which I was glad I able to acquire the chance on earning skill about interact with our collaborative partners. Other than that, I was assigned on searching for decoration idea for staff party, prize category, and photographer of the party night as well. Besides, I had also been asked for taking part in the dance performance in staff party, while for me it was a kind of acceptance as they had recognized me as one of the members in the company.
It was such a memorable night and the progress that we together made the company dinner happening. Best of luck to my fellow coursemates. Cheers~
