After planning a strategy of PR for client, definitely event will be the next. I would like to share my experience of joining and be part of it in this event. Our client for this event is a hair product company called Sunsilk. Well basically in this event, we were in-charged of the media part and MYC was in charged of the event part. This event is basically a winner announcement of a competition which organized by Sunsilk called “Sunsilk Blog to Paris Competition”. The contestants were required to have a presentation in this grand finale. Our task is this event was to invite the media and get them to cover this event. Apparently, few weeks before this event we already try to inform all the media and to check for RSVP. So roughly we would able to know how many of them are coming so that we can make arrangement for the door gift.
The event started at 5pm and we reached there by 3pm to make some arrangement and preparation. Due to the reason that we do not need to the decoration, we just need to prepare for media registration for the event therefore we just need to prepare the door gift which is the Sunsilk product for the media who attended on that day. When the media came, all we need to do is help them to register. It was a nice experience because I got chance to meet the writer and editor in person. Networking is important is PR. Other than met all the editors and writer I was also able to know some of the celebrities, sponsorship partner of Sunsilk that were invited for the event.
Once thing I find it most useful for my future after this internship period is I get to know lots of people through networking. It is always good to know people round so that they might got chance to help you out in the future.
Back to the event, it ended at 7pm and I could see some of the editors were interviewing the winner of the competition which means they were going to come out story for our client. This means PR really works! Our client got coverage and our responsible done.Hehe
But it is always good to have nearly all the meda that came for the event will cover the story. After few weeks of monitoring the result was, yes most of the media that came for the event come out with their story for our client and some of them even come out with full page coverage. We were glad for that.
