FINAL WEEK!

i kept on praying for the final week to come, and yet during my final week i realised i was going to miss all the office fun!!!
well it di finally come....and it was one of the busiest weeks in my life...i think since the bosses knew we were leaving, they were taking advantage..they gave us piles of work to do.
we had a couple of new projects to work on....my bosses were mostly always out pitching for clients, so we the interns had to take care of the work at the office..
the casting was still going on, so i had to juggle my work from answering calls, replying emails of interested people, booking for them and doing other projects.
i was again given a leadership role of being the project leader of the new project we were working on. our company was doing all the PR plans and media relations for Malaysian Paralympic Council, which was preparing for a Paralympic general assembly. they wanted media exposure and all the relevant PR activities taken care of.
Unfortunately i did not stay long enough to complete the task since i had to go back to school the following week....

i believe i learned a lot during my internship. of course my company is not a PR agency/consultancy, infact they have less PR activities going on as compared to advertising, branding, documentaries etc...and i guess that is the main reason why i learned a lot...i did not only learn PR in the industry, but i also learned the advertising, marketing, and televison industry......this improved my social and communication skills as i had to handle so many people from all over the world....

oh and my bosses actually asked if i could stay and work for 6 more months as a part timer because i already understood most of the projects....but unfortunately my very tight schedule at school could not let me take the opportunity.
but nevertheless i enjoyed my internship and hope you all enjoyed yours...

PRISCILLA: IT GETS BETTER AND INTERESTING!

Well as time went by, i got used to my bosses. we could sit and chart about work, we went to lunch together and sat in a big group discussing all our plans and everybody had a chance to chip in. since i was assigned to be the casting coordinator, i had to work on the project everyday until the end of my internship. but when the was nothing else to work on, i mostly did research.
so in week three i and my intern collegue had to brainstorm about all the places we could put our posters, places with lots of young, hippy people who are interested in the peforming arts (acting, dancing, hosting shows and modelling).
so we immediately thought of colleges, shopping malls and night clubs!
but we couldnt put up posters in shopping malls, so we had only colleges and clubs. my bosses didnt like the idea of clubs so we stuck to colleges and one pub which is mainly for college students in Cyberjaya. after shortlisting my target places, i had to look for their numbers on the internet and call them to ask about the procedures we had to go through in order to put up the posters. luckly most of the colleges such as Sunway, Inti, Taylors, MMuU and Limkokwing were cooperative so there was no problem at all. A few wanted us to pay, and others totally refused. But nevertheless our poster plcaement went on successfully.
during this period i also had to make sure that enough casting forms and audition scripts were printed and ready. same thing about the cameras, microphones, and lights.
it was during this period that i received a lot of calls and emails from interested people who wanted me to book them for casting, eventhough it was still an open thing.
so i was busy talking to so many people, others contacting me for more inormation, others about the directions to our office and it really got me all worked up.
thats the industry, no time to rest!!!!
i t was at this point in time that i began missing school!!!!!
i was tired and yet excited!!!!!

PRISCILLA: REALITY!!!! (WEEK 2)

there was a lot of work to be done when we came back from the holidays. we had a lot of documentaries and one reality show ready to be shot. so we needed talent to act in our shows. we needed the reality show hosts (1 male and 1 females) and we also wanted models, actors and dancers.
my bosses put me in charge of the whole project as the casting coordinator. i had to do all the planning, the budgeting and creating a form as well as a database.
so this kept me busy for almost the whole internship period since it was an ongoing thing. first i did a list of the things that we had to do like preparing the studio, getting all the necessary equipment, creating a facebook group, setting up a casting database where we filled the information about our talent, asking our designer to create a suitable poster.
this came as a challenge for me since i was put in such a leadership position and i had to report to my bosses all the time about my progress.
i shared all the information with everyone so that my superiors could correct me well before i put my idea into practice.
i also had to write a small script which the talent had to memorize for the audition. it was a really interesting job to do. i was happy to do it and i knew i was going to meet with different people from all over the world who are interested in arts.
this week went on perfectly

PRISCILLA: MY LIFE AS AN INTERN (WEEK 1)

hello everyone.my name is Priscilla Rabasimane from LUCT campus. i did my internship at 4Thirteen Media Design in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. i know im so late, but hey its because of circumstances beyond my control.
i can see that everyone enjoyed their internship and im happy to also have noticed that we all have learnt a lot.
4Thirteen media design is a newly established company and has only 5 employees. it is a full service media agency which mainly deals with branding. the services offered include branding and communication, advertising, content for Television, documentary and TV commercial production, web solutions, web design and interactive/ reactive media systems.
I started my internship on the 16th of December. during the first week, there was nothing much to do. my superiors briefed me on all the projects they were working on, gave me deatiled information anout their clients and how they operate. 4Thirteen media design's clientele include Wild Asia, Finas, Sri Selangor Golf Club, Europh Internatonal, Pan Asian Healthcare, RSL Associates, Maxin, Cabana and a lot more.
So i spent the whole week familirizing myself with everything around me. one thing i learnt during my first week was that people in the industry dont have time to teach you how to do something, they are always so busy, frustrated and always on their feet..
well thats the industry for you:the only thing that matters is meeting the deadline!
well i was preapered for the challenge.
well there was nothing much to do this week and we all went for festive holidays on the 23rd and came back on the 2nd of january 2009. that was when the work began.
