A lot of fun mixed with a little bit of work!

The marketing department at Rendezvous Grand Hotel also happens to look after the marketing and PR for the Rendezvous Studio Hotel Perth Central property in the CBD, and we have been asked to boost the traffic through their bar. This is definitely something the social side of university taught me!

It would be second nature from most people's point of view to simply lower the price of drinks to encourage more patrons, but in the spirit (no pun intended) of maintaining brand integrity and keeping the right target demographic in mind, this is not the answer.

And so we are sourcing good accoustic performers to do sets on  Friday evenings after work, we have introduced a new Cider Special and cocktail promotion, and we are launching the new Tapas menu at the Bar in conjunction with this special. Searching for quality performers was definitely a fun aspect of the task, booking the talent and doing all the administration in terms of distributing briefs to all staff and raising purchase orders for the costs accrued was maybe the not-so-fun part. But I really am learning how much work goes into one small task!

Now that the talent is booked, we have to promote the event. And so I am currently putting together an eDM with our promotions, as well as coming up with concepts for a Facebook competition for the property to simultaneously push for fan-numbers. 

The best part of it all? Myself and the ladies in the office are going down to the property on Friday night to "sample" the product and see the turn out so that we can get the feedback we need to push for future events. If it goes well we shall invite a reviewer down the next time we have the event!
