I've done quite a bit of research over the last few weeks in relation to the need for PR in the natural resources industry. Australia has often be noted as being a "quarry country" where we provide countries with a larger population our natural resources. These countries include China and India. With the Australian dollar at such a high rate, and natural resources at all time highs, these countries are often looking elsewhere to buy what they need to generate income for themselves later down the track as well as run their own industries.
Techniques such as media releases and more traditional business communications methods aren't as effective as they once were in this industry. Companies are more employing techniques such as landing global speaking engagements to getting major national and trade headlines. Another effective method has been creating video documentaries on the plant or process that is involved. Linkedln is also a took that is used to generate and create a strong presence.
Welcome to PR Internship - YOUR opportunity to put everything you have learned over the past years at university into practice and to get a thorough insight into what public relations is like "in the real world". This Blog allows you to reflect on your experiences, share insights with other students across campuses and to possibly give advice and support to fellow students. Please also see http://printernship-reflections.blogspot.com.au/ for more reflections
