Hi everyone!!
This is actually my last post and I wanted to raise the issue of ethics being part in PR activities. The company where I work tries their best to be ethical and be transparent to their customers. But not all companies are ethical. Because of them PR is perceived as organised lying and not really ethical.
The PR persons in some situations have no authority over what they do; they are simply mouthpieces for other people who may or may not be ethical. However, the PR practitioners are held responsible by recipients for the messages they spread.
Ethics is the code of moral principles and values that governs the behaviours of a person or group with respect to what is right or wrong (Samson and Daft 2010, 174)
During my internship, I realised how PR is important to a company and that it is important to be ethical as in the eye of the public we have a reputation to maintain. Also what people don’t always see is that, many ethical decisions are needed almost every day in PR work. For example, at my placement, it is important to be original and not steal the ideas of competitors or to copy on what they did. It may not be a big deal to others but at least they try their best to be ethical.
Being ethical is really important and it matters!! Hope that your internship was as interesting as mine and that you have learnt a lot of things through it and that now you are ready for what happens next. Wish u all best of luck and take care.

Alzheimer Awareness
Hello PR Practitioners!!!!
This week I had to write a small script for a short radio spot about Alzheimer, it's symptoms and where in Mauritius you can go to have more information and get some help. The radio spot is for the Alzheimer Association of Mauritius.
Following the conversation I had with the client and the mail she sent me with all the details, I wrote the script and sent to her for approval. Then today I had participated in the recording of the radio spot and I directed the person doing the voicing. I told her which tone to adopt and would best suit the spot and what emotions the listeners should perceive when listening to the spot.
We had to re-record several times to achieve perfection. Also there were two version of the spot that needed to be written and recorded (Creole and Bhojpuri). For the bhojpuri part I was only involve in the recording as I don't know the language and needed someone else to translate the text I had written for the client.
Tomorrow my team and I will finalise everything for the spot and send it to the client to see whether she likes it or not. My boss was satisfied with the work we have done but as you know they will find some little things to say and told us what needed to be change.
I will keep you posted about what the client says about the radio spot we've made.
Till my next post, take care everyone.
