A True Woman of Substance

The title is very much related to my experiences working as a soon-to-be a PR pro at S&A PR. Selina has a very great bound with her celebrities and VIP buddies. No wonder she can get many highly paid celebs for FREE! She has done a lot of great things and she deserves it. Media people love her because to her, work is work and there are enough time to play but just don’t mess with her.

I was doing so much of press kits for the media and I was proud to contribute some of my creative ideas in decorating the kits to look more cute and edgy when I realized all of these. Being true to yourself and nice to other as how you would like others to treat you explains how this company worth to be in the top 5 PR companies in Malaysia. There are a lot of successful press releases being made in the magazines and daily newspapers due to the unconditional hard work, mix and match creative ideas for the benefits of the clients and the community.

See Ya~!

PR turns Challenges into Success!

Holla!

I couldn’t get easy access to this blog during my internship early this year so i had to post my blogs after the placement. Thank you bunches to my lecturer in Limkokwing, Zamzila and Katharina for their nonstop help during the hectic situations. It really means a lot. Back to work!

Other than having the most amazing work mates during the internship, Im also amazed by how the 7 of them working and getting in touch with each other on the daily basis. Each and everyone of them were been given a BlackBerry so that they will not only get in touch with each other, but also with the clients and of course, the CEO herself. Busy in, Busy out.. no matter where they go, what they do or even which client were they all with? The CEO has to be updated constantly. Even I myself had to report to Selina everyday via emails and updated her with what I was currently working on to make sure that eveybody’s desks are clean and tidy before she gets in. J

My work mates are always busy with meetings and meet ups with the clients but they will always make sure that I had been given enough input on what they are doing and other PR work that I was not really clear about especially the ROI, how to make press releases to be more interesting plus put the clients on top of everything although sometimes the clients can be really a pain in the neck.

Overall, the weeks went on by doing multi tasks and Im glad that I put my passion in it by bit.

We Work Hard, We Play Hard Too!

Hi All!

Being working with bunches of coolest people in the company; I would not want to trade the days and experiences that I have shared with them for the world! I have learnt so much so fast from using the Photostat machine to helping the company creating their latest website for 2009! Im proud to say that this internship has taught me to not afraid of trying new stuff plus to feel the fear and do it anyway. Here’s the reason why I said so.

S&A PR has big shot clients. Few of the bunches such as the DELICIOUS Group and Nandos have been their loyal clients for the past 9 years due to their unstoppable success in making nothing to be something. One of the few is the Asia Asset Management, a company that provides a training centre, forums for the big names people in Malaysia and galore.

Through out my placement there, I was asked to make calls to several of these big names of 1000 over people. I had to call all of their personal assistances to update their personal details. This is because; the company was planning to be given a forum about financial and investment to them and to be held in the middle of March.

What I learnt most about this particular task is that it taught me to be a smart multi tasker in terms of putting all my work in orders and get it all done a.s.a.p. Besides that, it taught me not to be too shy when making calls because that was when I represented my company and I needed to sound good for the company’s reputation.

There were a lot of calls to be made and I was actually shocked to know that I managed to breaking down the numbers to only 50 more of calls to go! My CEO was so impressed with me that she actually had asked me to start working on her next big thing.. The company 2009’s WEBSITE! Can things get any worst? Hee! But it was all right and I was happy that I didn’t complained back then. Somehow, I must say that the bound between Selina, the CEO and me is coming along well.

I love my internship already and could not wait to have a PR company of my own!

Later!

Let the work begins!

My internship was coming along well after I have recovered from high fever in week 1. I was busy doing the press clippings for the clients, which I find this task to be very easy but challenging at the same time. Press clippings are basically to prove to the clients that PR and the media have made their parts by publishing the clients’ product releases be it in the magazines or daily newspapers. I will take out the particular page and labeled them by the date it was being published plus the publications. Daily newspapers included English, Mandarin and Malay versions. Those need to be checked everyday to make sure that the media are taking the company’s press releases seriously and that they are being well explained what certain products benefit their readers and how it will create people’s attentions by reading them. The same methods applied to magazines but I can go through them during the weekends. (:

By end of the month, I was asked to compile everything according to the date and compile it so that I could start on doing the next step, which is called the ROI (Return Of Investment). Here, I had to calculate the media rate of each product placements from every publication so that the clients will get a clear view of the PR profits and what PR has done for them. It all has to be prepared every end of each month and will be presented to the clients by year-end. I have done so much of press clippings for my company include big shot clients such as TOUS, THEOBROMA CHOCOLATE, CADBURY, MS. READ, DELICIOUS, DUDE & the DUCHESS, SPANISH TOURISM BOARD, ASIA ASSET MANAGEMENT, NANDO’S, SAFWA HEALTH, KORDELS, GETHA BEDDING, UMW and galore.

In the middle of week 3, I also was asked to do a lot of clerical work that are the payment vouchers for the company’s account, made claims to the clients, prepared details of the money flows for my CEO to write cheques to the bank and other companies and also did few other stuff for the charities. Working is already hectic itself plus I had to do so much of those things above for 7 people! It was kind of tense but as the day went by, I learnt to practice to get use to it. Besides, I already fell in love in PR and would really want to make PR as a career to start after graduating! (:

More fun and exciting weeks to come! Cheers~!

Working together - Week 1

My days at S & A PR were so fun yet challenging experiences during the internship. I instantly 'clicked' with my work mates on the very first day and I was very lucky to have such an amazing groupies who will always be there for each other in terms of work no matter what. What I really like about this small company of 7 including the CEO is that they have made bunches of successful projects and events together back then and was done by women!

I felt so honored to be a part in one of their biggest events towards the end of year 2008, which was the end of my first week of working there where the company helps to organize an  event called, 'Dentyne Splash Water Futsal Championship' in Sunway Pyramid, one of  Kuala Lumpur's biggest shopping malls. The main objective of this event is to launch the company's client, Cadbury, new product release called, 'Dentyne Splash'. Dentyne Splash introduced its biggest wave of innovation in the gum arena thus far-a new gum that combines a single flavored gum pallet around a separately flavored liquid center which come in two flavors, Strawberry Lime and Hypermint.

I was in charged to help by preparing the media kits, sending invitations and made calls to invite mostly the media people and of course, Malaysia's top celebrities and models to take part in the event. I was very happy to actually know that I have done these kind of task during my studies at Limkokwing University from the Curtin modules that has exposed me with the real field of being a PR practitioner.

Having too much of work with a little less number of staff through the first week, plus all the upcoming major projects that the company has to do to meet the clients deadlines for the next week made me gone flat for a week, right after the event so to speak. I did not go to work for 9 days due to my sickness of having a really high fever. Sad but true. However, I did manage to keep with the environment of being surrounded by workaholic people in there on the third week which means that my second week of internship was just resting at home. :(

Through out the week, I have learnt that PR can also be practiced to help the clients in the sense of working together to create brands people love. (:

But still, it was the coolest experience that I have shared with all of them and the fever was worth it. ;)

Later, peeps!

My internship of two months at Salina & Associates PR in February 2009 has aspire me to not miss the chance to be part of the colorful and fast growing PR industry with a great success achievements and the knowledge that I gained.
