Throughout our studies, we have learnt that in the field of PR, one must always verify every detail before sending to the media. It is a quintessential in our domain.
This was not the case where I work. It was only the grammatical mistakes that were checked but not the guest speaker of the press conference who has to talk about the participation of his company.
The bad thing is that the invitation for the press conference has already been faxed by me as I already got the approval to send it. Correction had to be made about the date and time of the new press conference which was a day before the set date.
I had to immediately phone all the journalists on the media contact list that I have created and updated to tell them that the new date and time. I had to make sure that they understood that the time and date have changed. An amended fax was sent again to the various journalists from various media.
This can be spared by VERIFYING, and COUNTERVERIFYING every single details many times. This is what I recommend.
