Lessons learnt from Internship

Internship was not as what i expected, but through the 3 months journey with the agency, I've learnt many things that could not be learnt from the textbooks. I've learnt to be more responsible for any task i'm assigned to do and that time management is very important. This is because I will be holding a bigger responsibility in the working world and not only my reputation will be hurt if things do not turn out well, or rather the company's name is at stake. It is no longer about myself but i also have to help think on behalf of the company. Other than having some self improvements, I've also learnt that different agency works differently and in different style. As such, press release is normally of a standard format, but briefing document and client's report may differ when it comes to different agency or client. I was assigned to do various reports for clients and different clients have different format of report to be done. The agency have to cater to every single client needs as much as possible. Through this internship, I've learnt that the working world can be very different from the things we learnt from the textbook. But i'm glad to have gone through my internship, so that i have a hang of how things are done in order to prepare me for the real working world.

Handling school life with intership

Prior to my internship, I thought that I would be able to just deal with my internship alone for the semester, but due to unforeseen situation, I had to take up an additional module during the semester. It was a task to be doing internship together with an additional module as I am weak in my time management. Every single week I have to do my assignments for the week's lesson and attend class from 7pm to 10pm after internship, and will be really tired the following day at work. This is why I look up to those working adults who are able to handle studying part time after work and still be able to complete their studies. August was a busy month for the agency and I do feel guilty at times when I was not able to finish my task on hand for the day but yet I have to rush off for class, and this leaves my in-charge having to work over-time in order for the task to be completed if the task was time sensitive. August is also a busy month in school, with assignments and projects due. I'm grateful that my group mates in class are helpful and help me complete everything on time. I'm also grateful that everyone in the agency is understanding enough that I'm handling a tough period at school and help lighten my load on top of theirs.
