Lights, Camera, ACTIVATION!

Today was a fun and interesting day as we ventured out into the Hay Street mall to organise and run a marketing 'activiation'.

We had stall set up in the entrance of the Carillon city which was maned and displayed from 11-2. This was definitely the busiest time of the day as lots of people were out and about shopping or grabbing some lunch.

The main focus of the stall was to push ticket sales for the big Perth Arena game this weekend, and to sell discounted memberships for the remainder of the season. We only sold a few tickets and one membership which was a little disappointing.

West Coast Fever is the biggest brand or entity that netball WA publicly promote . Brand awareness for the team is very important and therefore today's activation was just about selling tickets and memberships, but more about increasing brand awareness and promoting netball as a fantastic, professional sport for women.

It was interesting to see that not many people had hear of the West Coast Fever. Many people who passed by asked "women's basketball, yea?" I could see the frustration of Chanel and Shae (two of the players who helped out) after this question was asked more than a few times.

It was great when members of the public were excited about taking a signed poster home to their children or getting a photo with Chanel and Shae. It was also valuable for me to hear what random Perth citizens had to say about the West Coast Fever and netball in general and just to gauge the degree of public awareness and acceptance of the brand and sport itself.

Has anyone else participated in a marketing activation? or something similar to this? would be great to hear your thoughts on its success and what you gained from it!

On a side note, I would just like to share with you all that I had my first piece if written work published on the Netball WA website last week.
It was a basic match review of three state league games.

2012 Chic Model Search Final

2012 CHIC MODEL SEARCH SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL

This week was the most anticipated week of my internship, the 2012 Chic Model Search semi-final and final on the same weekend.

The week started strong and busy with confirming the production for both the semi-final and the final. There was a lot to be done so I decided to be proactive on Monday. I had to organise the semi-final t-shirts and final t-shirts, liaising with Network Ten to confirm a Channel Ten journalist as an MC for the final, liaise with Nobody Denim to organise jeans for all entrants for both the semi-final and final and finally email all entrants regarding the semi-final and the final.

SEMI-FINAL AT WESLEY QUARTER
The semi-final went extremely well, the production organised by the Wesley Quarter PR team Magenta was amazing, our MC Rebecca from GWN sounded and looked fantastic and the overall event ran smoothly. I learnt from this event that communication is key especially when you are working with three different organisations how I did for this event. I had to liaise with Wesley Quarter, Magenta and Perth Fashion Festival to create the production for this event.

FINAL AT STM FASHION CENTRAL IN FORREST PLACE
The 2012 Chic Model Search final started off as quiet a stressful day as we were in the STM Fashion Central sharing it with four other parades, which were running late. The back of house was quiet a stressful place to be but once we were assigned our spot out the back we got to work with re-registering the contestants, fitting them and doing a rehearsal so everyone including out new MC Amelia Broun from Channel Ten were familiar with what do to on stage. Johnny Ruffo joined us at the event where he had a meet and greet with our “Johnny Ruffo winners” and later joined Amelia on stage for a quick interview and to present the runners up and winner with flowers.

Overall, the final went extremely well.

The last week of my internship included tying up all the loose ends such as the delivery of the winners prizes, thank you emails to everyone involved in the chic Model Search etc.

I could not believe how quickly my time at Perth Fashion Festival has passed; I have learnt more than I could possibly imagine I have met many wonderful people, created some strong contacts and strengthen my communication skills. Freda Phillips was an amazing mentor and allowed me to share my opinion and thoughts in every aspect of the planning of the model search.

Thank you for reading my blog!
