Now, you must be wondering why I mentioned it as the Paradise. Well, it IS paradise! The word 'shangri-la' means 'paradise'. The hotel was named as Shangri-La by the owner Robert Kuok (who is still very much alive and the richest in Malaysia) after the original one, 'The Kuok Hotel'. He changed it after reading a book by James Hilton, "The Lost Horizon" in 1933. The book is simply about a man who discovered an island, like a paradise, which then he couldn't find anymore after leaving it. So then, every of his resorts has a spot designed like a 'paradise'. Golden fish in a pond, surronded by trees and flowers beside, with pretty paths etc. It is usually in the centre on the resort.
Back to my main topic, last year's new year's eve!
In one night, there were 5 different restaurants with different themes in the resort, all celebrating the same occasion. All were decorated according to its themes. Guests started to arrive at 5:30pm. i didn't need to do anything actually for there was enough staffs and everything has already been prepared. I went wth my supervisor, assisted her checking all restaurants and bar and in the photoshoots. Things went smoothly; decorations were completed on time, good food cooked, and all tables were fully reserved.
Then, I observed how my then colleague took photos at every restaurants and bars. The night was lighted up with pretty lights and bonfire, making the resort look most alive.

6:30pm at the bar by the poolside.
