Hey, Audrey here, I found my internship position in my hometown Shanghai, China.
Location: Hilton in Shanghai, China
Dates: early in May (Friday)
Website: http://www.mclaren.com/
McLaren has improving its brand image since Shanghai F1 and it plans to positively enter into potential market in China's Mainland. However, this small-scale VIP event is a little bit different as it would not open to media, it has also invited VIP guests from Hong Kong and London, most of them are franchisers or dealers, they tried to share their trade experience and the opinions of Chinese hot market, to some extent, it is not very complex event, it has two steps: VIP collection in international PuDong airport and dinner in Hilton around CBD area. With this event, McLaren set a new sports car in the lobby in Hilton hotel, dinner has been arranged on the 40 floor.
For the dinner, as I said, simple process, I attached a event plan here, simple brand video introduction and performance before the major part.
However, chaos in the processing of collection service in Shanghai International airport. Several reasons can be defined. First, huge space and complicated access in the airport after it's renewed redevelopment; secondly, our experienced staff focused on the dinner part, so only few part time students were on site; third, more unexpected factors, name placard could easily to unrecognized among the crowds, increased luggages can be a burden for shuttle arrangement; and language barrier created communication gap. After this experience, I have realized that we need to take more factors in to consideration, we thought more easy before. To thinking from PR perspective!
For the dinner part, much simple than before. All the guests were living in Hotel and it is easy to organize relevant activities in the CBD area in Shanghai. Some printed materials have been displayed around the corners to easy introduce VIP guest to dinner venue.
My supervisor felt that the host speaker has indifferent presentation, especially in terms of her Chinese-English translation ability. For this issue, it is hard to find a good bilingual host speaker within limited budget.
Welcome feedbacks!
