hello to all
im printing my samples of work for my internship report now. i should say my report is half done but i am still waiting for some documents on policies and missions and visions of the company. and i could not find any information in the website of the company which i think i should recommend to the creative department to have some amendment. these are all important information about the company, don't you think so?
the new semester has started in my university and i hope this is going to be a brand new semester.
to those that just started their internship, good luck.
all the best.

final project - - DONE!
hooray to me! my last project about this telesurvey for HINO is over.
i am done with the calls, tabulations, writing reports for the conclusions and prepared power point persentation slides for the client presentation next week.
for over 6 days of handling hundreds of calls, it is done by now.
the problem that i encountered towards this project was, the patience talking with the truck drivers and the survey sheet was too long. (check out my previous blog, title 'telemarketing')
i should not say this is the end of my internship as in fact i am done being as an intern under this company and eventually i am working part time with them. one thing, i am glad that they remember my name, remember me as their intern and as part of the team.
the director came out from her office and thanked me for being helpful, and asked me to contact her as soon as i graduate. i GOT a JOB!!!
it is time to settle the internship report and i am still waiting for them to be free to provide me with information regarding about the company's policies and some information of clients and projects that i have worked with them. basically i was not in the public relations department and i do feel grateful that i learnt all jobs from public relations to event planning to telemarketing and account executive. this broaden my perspective and makes me a more whole-rounded person. don't you think so?
my next semester registration date is on next monday. time flies. to all the friends out there, enjoy every single piece of your internship period, you will realise you learn alot, seriously, is alot.
i wil continue with my internship report and i wish i can meet up with my subject leader soon in campus as i have some questions about the report. friends, lets discuss if you have any doubts when writing the report. i will continue reading this blog. :)
best of luck to everyone

telemarketing
i am now conducting a tele-survey on behalf of HINO.
its about customer satisfaction survey and the target audience is those logistics supervisors and not forgetting, the lorry drivers.
this is the time that i should say,
this is the most horrifc tele-survey that i had encountered.
to be honest, speaking to lorry drivers is very difficult.
instead of me asking them questions they will ask me back.
"why are you asking so many questions, im very busy u know..."
"who is this? why are you asking so many questions? i am confused."
throughout this tele-survey, i do have comments towards the survey sheets.
remember, is a phone call survey and keeping the attention with the person you are speaking to is very hard. ask them few questions that is important; the survey sheets that i got from my company was about, rating the services, from one to four and in the phone calls, some people may not visual carefully.
this is one thing that i learnt. if i have a chance, i would propose to my colleagues that we should shorten the survey sheets.
this 2 weeks i will be working on this tele-survey.and everyday i need to make at least hundred calls and ought to achieve the target of twenty successful calls. defining successful calls, these are the phona calls that the person would answer all your questions and imagine the lorry drivers are on their work to deliver goods to other place, they got frusted so fast when i repeatedly asking about their opinions towards the trucks and if they encounter any disatisfaction towards the maintenance and spare parts. sigh.
another new experience that i explored. in telemarketing, everything should be short, and precise.
i will update you guys on the outcome data after i wrap up this surveys. good luck everyone.

internship report
hi to all,
it has been the financial year end and lots works are pilling up.
writing annual reports, quotations, client briefs, media releases and etc.
staying for OT is normal thing for me now. thank god that i rented a room nearby my office where i can just walk to work. nice. :)
i tried to ask my supervisor to give me some details for our clients business goals, and their issues or crises. but i guess it is too much of the confidentiality issue that they refuse to provide me with further information. ouch. maybe they are busy to entertain me? when since they are busy for some other events, i volunteered to help writing on annual reports which somehow may help me in getting information about clients' business goals and issues and they seems reluctant. any ideas on how i should approach my colleagues for clients information that i need for my internship report?
now that they are having a meeting, that is why i can sneak out and write blogs here in office.
i shall update more on the current activities that we are doing soon...
to some friends that just started the internship, i wish you good luck.
cheers

professionalism
this is going to be the month of july and yearly reviews on each colleagues are on.
and this is the period too where my company is getting very busy with annual dinners, annual promotion events, outstanding fees quotations and writing annual reports.
here came a new intern and she is from Indonesia.
i did not notice her existance as she sits at a corner when she first enter to work in the creative media team.
to be honest she did not give a good impression,
first, she comes to work late, complaining that she couldn't catch the bus sometimes as she stays far away.
second, she smokes in pantry during tea time. as, we should not smoke in an air-cond pantry and smoking is only allowed outside the office.
during lunch break some colleagues were happily sharing their appraisals and they eventually poked out this topic. professionalism.
punctuality speaks alot that a person is responsibility or anot.
it is sometimes hard to present yourselves to be professional?
and some said smoking should be avoided when meeting with sponsors and clients?
and for ladies, make-ups, dressings, perfumes speaks alot for professionalism?
to all of you,
please share me what is your experience of professionalism?
lets discuss.

interior affairs? -2
replying to LM,
Malaysia here the H1N1 case has risen to more than hundred. and the places got infected are just very near to my company's surrounding area. the BOD of my company had a meeting on the precautions.
those that have a slight flu or cough NEED to go to visit for a doctor.
personal hygiene is of course important where we are being told to wash hands with 'DETOL' before and after meal.
every morning we have to take detergent to clean our desks, especially the keyboard.
we even thinking of getting masks but it caused so much inconvenience as we need to meet the clients and talk on phones.
regarding the questions that you poked out, i did added some of my colleagues in the facebook, even those ex-colleagues in kindergartens, tuition centres and etc in my account.for me, we need to understand that, work is work, whenever we are out of work station, we should treat all as friends. haha. that what my supervisor told me. in company we are all serious bunch of workers.and at friday night, where we hanged out in a lounge, that was what he told me. very true.
also, that was what i mentioned, we should not bring personal conflicts to the work desk. it hurts, badly. i saw the little battle in MSN pm of my colleagues and we (other colleagues and i) dare not to talk to them during our lunch break.
anyway thank you for your comment, i will take note on my communication with the colleagues. thank you very much. now i learnt a new thing.

interior affairs?
it is quite kinky for one to realise on the title of this post.
somehow i do believe it is politics everywhere under the sun.
IT IS. Politics ARE everywhere.
i just realised there are some 'interior conflicts' when a PR executive officer added me in Facebook and told me he had handed in the resign letter.
upon asking why, he told me there are some relationship problems.
oops.
i do agree that sometimes i can see there is some conflicts between colleagues.
it is normal, for that different people would surely have different perspective over a matter.
once i saw my colleague (she is just sitting next to me in the office) was 'discussing' how the another worker (he is the creative director) treats his intern. and once i saw a scene where she threw tandrums when dispatches were sent late resulting a delay in her submission to the runner.
i guess it is all because of stress????
i have seen where two colleagues were trying to annoy each other through 'MSN personal message'. i had no idea what was happening between them and never that i dare to ask. after all, i am just an intern. wow, what a reality PR life i got. but few days later i see that both of them were sharing some cookies.... hmm.
i should say a good corporate governance should be practised for an organization. from what that i can see is the Board of Directors of my company is really doing a good job. BOD will listen to both parties and not doing any negative judgements to one another. this is the reason i could explain for that my company, ROOTS have strong teamwork spirit.
in my humble opinion, do not bring your personal emotions to the work desk. it will only make things worst.
ps: Swine flu crisis is highly on the rise, take good care everyone.

made mistake
i just went to collect my cash from my company.
i worked as a promoter and organizer for an event back in a month ago,
it was the HSBC Amanah openning ceermony of the new branch in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
there were lots of events and i was in charged of the 'kids' coloring contest', and, i made mistake.
the kids color contest had two groups, aged 5-7 where kids need to color a picture drawn with HSBC logo and the bulding. age 8-12 will be drawing about your ambition...
rules and regulations, as usual like we all knew,
those parents who worked within HSBC groups shall not be entering the contest.
and, like all the events, lots people came in and out for the free food, free goodie bags, and free consultation of new banking loan scheme from HSBC. lots kids approached me for the coloring and for courtesy wise, i had to give everybody a chance, even those kids who under the age of 5, some parents asked me to just give their kids the color paper and just made the kids sat down while the parents had time to enjoy the free food and fee consultation.
too much kids, and i accidentally mixed up the names!... oops.
apparently it wasn't a big matter as we already knew who would win the contest, the competition was very obvious and results were actually could be announced on the spot. but we did not do that, as HSBC manager said he would utterly delighted to take a look of the pieces of artworks. and there was a kid who requested the reason why she wasn't win anything, even the consolation prize. upon checking the artwork, she complained that was not her piece! oh my god, my boss rang me in the middle of my tutorial in class and asked me about this matter. i stucked.
this involved the parents of this little girl and what a coincident the mother is working as a teller in HSBC in another branch. {thank God}, so my boss told the parents the artwork of her daughter was invalid as the rules were clearly written. and then the parents complained why we still give the daughter a chance to enter the competition since her work would be invalid.. and i explained..
i quickly rushed back to office after my tutorial class and searched for the littler girl's work. luckily i remember because, significantly she drew that her ambition is to be a teller in HSBC, with a big HSBC logo in the uniform on the subject she drew.
we gave the artwork back to the parents and apologized for the 'not winning'
apparently the parents were pissed that her daughter did not won anything. but to be honest, her artwork was not that great as the parents expected.
phew, my hands were shaking when i wrote this. thank you my Almighty God that i found her piece of work which the parents got zipped. :)

grace's first entry
hello to all,
finally i have got to access to this blog. hurray.
i have just started my semester break today after all the exams and final submission and i just presented my piece of documentary production. now, i am kinda excited as i applied this internship earlier than lots of my coursemates, "i am ahead of them, :)"
i already started working in this company back in last year 2008 when i had my end year holiday. i worked in a marketing-event team, yet i do step my feet as a public relations in the company, i couldn't applied internship as a public relations officer as that time when i applied, there was a guy from another college (taylors college) who applied in advance.
but thank God i wasn't the only interns there that time as i have a friend to talk to. i was abit shy at the very beginning, because, i entered another piece of life, not working with lecturers and friends anymore but with professional people who are versatile.
i am now working as a part time in this company and i should say i got a great network upon working in this company, i made new friends from various industries. throughout this working experience i do have lots cherish moments...
to all friends who just applied for your internship, i shall wish you good luck and thevery best. enjoy every seconds with the workload, you will learn alot.
