Hello everyone. I’m Oaitse from Limkokwing University of Technology, Cyberjaya campus. I’m doing my internship with a company called 4thirteenmedia in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya. This company works with various clients such as the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation , The National Geographic Channel, Jack and Jill. My internship began on the 15th of December and for the past three weeks at work I can say so far it’s all good.
I haven’t had so much to do as I was new to the team; anyway, this is what I expected more especially after I read some of the postings here on some people’s experiences at work in the first week. My bosses explained to me what they are doing and the project they are running, and also highlighted me on the upcoming events. The first task I was asked to do was to brainstorm the necessities of a casting event which is to be held early this year. Then after brainstorming I would do an event planning of the casting, listing everything that will be needed to run the event. Event planning was something familiar to me because I did it in PR 300. We went for the Christmas and New Year eve break on 23rd December and returned on the 2nd of January. On the last day before going for the break, we held a meeting in which we discussed about what we achieved over the year, what we didn’t achieve, which projects were still in progress, and what we were planning for this year.
We began week 2 of work on the 2nd of Jan. There was a lot of work to do in this week as we were running after deadlines. I was assigned to do a checklist for all the things that would be needed for the casting. My bosses were asking me to help them in various activities throughout the week. I’m always ready for any duty that my bosses assign me and I think it’s a challenge for me to adapt to the tight schedule that I might face at work in my lifetime job in future.

I see that you're into something really fun there. Event planning. I think most of us here would love that. Speaking of tight schedule, I see that as an advantage. You are going to learn so much. I have seen some interns not being ask to do much in their internship ended up not learning anything and having nothing much to write about in the final report. I am quite a laid back person, but I sometimes love the excitement of meeting deadlines, rushing projects and staying up late for work. At the end of it, I know you are going to learnt so much and that is what's so sweet about all these. It is nice knowing that you're working with a bunch of experienced people. As introducing PR to people who have very little understanding about it is not as easy task. Especially in a small city I live in. I have got to try hard to show them the benefits and the importance of PR through my work. However, there is the fun of it too. Anyway, all the best in your internship and looking forward to hear more about your event plan. Have a nice weekend.
