Nearing the end of my internship felt fast, i had done so much and still had so much to do before i end my time in Arcis Communications.
Our client who had the food review sessions before for their newly opened restaurants planned to hold another food review session, this time it was for their newest restaurant. It's amazing how many chains the restaurant has. This time, the restaurant was a Chinese restauran to invite and who to call. I needed to be especially careful in which publication to invite because the restaurant that served authentic shanghai food. My managers gave me the opportunity to set up the whole entire food review session, i had to choose which publicationt was non-halal, and not all publications publish reviews on non-halal restaurants as Malaysia is a Muslim country. i had find 12 journalist who write for the food or lifestyle section in a publication to come to the new restaurant and write a review about it. I first sent emails then followed up with phone calls to confirm time and any other questions such as pictures of the restaurant and so on. I managed to confirm everything 2 days before the food review sessions without any problems. I was happy to know that i could handle this on my own and everything went smoothly!
Also, for our Hallmark and National Geographic client i sent out media releases of their feature movies or shows for the month so that it would be published in the paper or magazine. I did find many media clippings of the Hallmark shows being published. If the media clippings less, then i would send out the releases again of the other upcoming shows. Many published this and that was a good outcome to see. Also, i had sent out media releases for our client with who has been having any new products or promotions.
As for the Malaysian Open, they had another pre-event to announce the international players coming in to play for the tournament. This event was very last minute and time management had to big part of this to finish preparing for it. About 60 media had to be called to ensure their attendance as the client was expecting a good outcome, this took up alot of time and then after that media kits and releases had to be prepared, all done the day before the event. Between me and my colleague, we finished preparing at about 11pm but it would have been later if we didn;t do things in an organized manner. Also, good communication between me and my colleague was crucial to finish things. The next day, the event went well and everything was ready for the media and client:)
Almost ending this internship seems to give me mixed feelings, but i know i would miss all the new experiences and learning how to do things for PR and actually having great outcomes in the end!

Hey jess! nice to meet you. i had read your post and i found it is a great experience for you to approach and complete a new task you have not tried by yourself. and grates that you could handle it smoothly.
Well, the press releases that you sent out are written by yourself? I didnt get to write any releases during my internship because the releases are normally written by my boss and her assistants.
I would like to say that not only PR field has to have good communication within the employees but as well as others. Team work will always produce the best outcome. =)
