Hello to all,
It’s coming to the second week of my internship with Mont Rich and I’d like to share some of my experiences and hopefully some advices or suggestions from the readers such as you! :)
Mont Rich is a small company comprises of only 5 employees. It does not have a proper PR department and most of their PR or Marketing work was done by the executive managers. My first thoughts at my first day at work were, “How do I get started?”
My hands begin to feel cold and clammy, nervous and excited about the challenges I’m about to face in the next coming weeks! After a moment of staring at the piece of the A4 size paper, I started to write a To Do list to kick start my PR work.
The most challenging part for me is to first introduce the world of Public Relations and proposing the initiatives I have planned to work on the next few weeks to the Managing Director of Mont Rich. Luckily for me, the director whose name is KC Tong was open to the idea I proposed to him! It was definitely a sigh of relief! At least one part of my challenge is over!
So here’s my proposal,
Currently, the company is recognised only through word of mouth and a long standing business relationship they have established many years ago. I proposed setting a company website that includes the history, milestones of their achievements, the services rendered etc.
Second, create a media kit and lastly, build up a media database to facilitate media relations and communication.
The past one week was an extensive research work on the company and it’s taking longer than I expected. With no experience of setting up a website, I must say the experience has been nerve wrecking but also fun! However weird that combination of my expression, it’s exactly how I am feeling right now.
My only concern is if I am over or under ambitious? What do you think and any suggestions?
With Best Regards,
Sook Wei

Hi Sook Wei,
Guess it's never easy being the only one to know about PR in the company. Kudos to you for having the courage to accept the challenge.
I agree with you that a website can just be another stepping stone for the company to make its name known. Afterall, everything is moving to the virtual/online platform now.
Keep working on the website and keep us updated!
