Good Morning to you all
Seven good weeks of intenship with The Voice. This is my eighth week of my attachment ,last week was suppose to be my last week but because of the love I have for my work I extended.
Last week Friday I attended a conference of the development of the Department of Out of School Education and Training on the Adult Basic Education Programme( Thuto ga e golelwe)with the theme towards functional literacy.
It was an interesting conference because it talks about the transformation of the programme towards Botswana 2016 Vision which is not that far of being an educated and informed nation.
Education according to the directors of the conference does not mean knowing how to read and write but also using those skills in a working environment especially to the adults.
Well my 7 weeks with The Voice was a good experince that I will never forgot. They treated me just not as an intern but like part of them.
All the department gave me the support, encouragement ,assistant were necessary.
Even though I had a problem with my blog I managed to deliver the 4 blogs which I was suppose to do.
What Iam happy about is I was able, together with one student who was on intern with me were able to design a teen talk campaign for teenagers in Botswana.
Here we create a panel were we go from one school to another, ask teenagers about their life, choices, pressure, love life take their views and tell the world.
We realised that most teenagers are not comfortably discussing some issues with their parents which concern them,so in order to engage them with others public's we talked to them and invite them to say what they feel freely.
Public Relations is quiet an interesting profession especially when it comes to the field itself. You tend to meet with different client, some are rude, quiet, nice and you have to deal with each of them.
Public Relation in Botswana have to be tighten from what I have observed since I was in the field
Lastly I want to thank everyone who got the chance to visit my blog, comment and the Voice staff for their love they had to me.
All the best .
Thank You

hi I managed to read one of your article on the Voice Newspaper of Teen Talk about peer pressure link below http://www.thevoicebw.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=2305:peer-pressure&catid=52:teen-talk&Itemid=74 . I would rather say the idea was good and it is very good.
I wasn't very impressed by the idea that you focused on only one school at a time and a private school for that matter. I should say they are smiling now because you gave them free publicity if at all it was free, but I understand it was free right? I think that's the other reason why the school heads gave you permission to interview their students.
however i suggest you could have mixed the school rather than mentioning where the students interviewed attend to avoid free publicity.
I hope you get what i mean
Hi
Thanks for the comment. But when we first started we distributed all the media releases to different schools to tell them about the idea of introducing a teen talk campaign were teenagers will have a voice on issues affecting them.In order to see whether the campaign will be effective or not we started with one government school and then every week we try other schools. The reason why we focused on one school was to gather more information about the teens and try to give them advice and answers to their questions. The other reason was it was not easy to approach other headmasters especially on government schools,as at times they were out.I was the one to come up with the idea, and as small as I am it was a difficult challenge for me to talk to managers, headmasters. We team up with journalists and photographers in order to publicize the teen talk.
Anyway thanks for the advice and the recommendations which I will pass to the manager of my company to apply in future
With regards
