a taste of working with the media and other key publics

helo guys i hope you are still enjoying your work......the road has been so wonderful that i wish it could be forever.... we had an event recently, we were having an annual MPC dinner which was held at the PALACE OF GOLDEN HORSES HOTEL it was a much anticipated event at the office... the dinner was held under the theme GILTZ AND GLAMOUR, we had governments officials and most prominent people and most of the DATOS and DATINS of Malaysia, in preparing for the major night my collegue and i were assigned to write a speech for our chairman which he will deliver infront of the deputy minister of international trade and industry so as two heads are better than one we wrote an excellent speech that our boss praised us for and i was very proud when the speech was delievered and cherished by the invitees... during the night i was responsible for media registering and registration of quests mainly for the media i was doing the media registering and showing them to their table with a gift of appreciation with the effort of building media relations so that in future they can attend our events ... i learnt form the university that its okay to give media some gifts as long as its not expensive and glamorous as it will look like bribery to them but small gifts like stationary is suitable... i was given an opportunity to answer the media on the questions they posed about the event and at first i was a litle bit nervous as i didnt want to say anything wrong which the media can misinterprete and burry the image of the company into mud but after some few minutes i remebered that confidence is vatal in matters like this...we were very glad to see that the coverage was exelllent the following day on the media as we read the newspapers... still on the day, i gave door gifts to the invitees as they registered and this also helped my company to build relations with the community....the event was a joyous one with entertainment form all the different races in malaysia with the aim of promoting the ongoing SATU MALAYSIA (1Malaysia) campaign by the Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, we also participated in entertaining the quests and this helped us as workmates to know each outside the office in a more relaxed place and also exchange cultures and knowledge....media releases were also sent out and i can proudly say that i am nor longer having difficulty in preparing an eye catching media release because now my boss does not ask me to do again..
the event was a succes that even up to now its still on our minds and so with this i believe that a succesful event will never end or finish in people's memories or minds.......
