So, there has been quite a bit of progress after my last blog.
Relay is coming together, would definitely hope so considering it's two weeks away; there are around 30 teams, we have bands, lights, food, staging, fencing and sponsorship. Majority of the nitty gritty things are out of the way and team captains meetings are starting to happen (basically a bit of an amp up for participants, a basic run down of the day, team shirts n tent allocations etc) and there will be a final meeting next week where we will go through evacuation plans and do a walk through of the site.
Media has been a bit of a struggle.. my contact within the university has gone on leave after "over promising and under delivering" (who remembers that big fat NO from our lectures?) so I've been left floating a bit. But Western Suburbs Weekly did a tiny little print about the event, which UWA media scanners picked up and sent through to the Hub. UWA itself put it on their website. I'm currently on a mission to get a radio station involved (again, contacts have been bailing left, right and centre) so we will see how that turns out.
Biggest thing on my agenda next week is to put together the program for the event. Again, I'm having to chase a few people for running times, maps, pictures etc. OH and Publisher! The computer.. doesn't.. have Publisher! So that's being installed for me, hopefully, today all ready to go next week. Also on the list is volunteer recruitment, and social media is my best friend right now - hurray for Facebook and its ability to contact EVERYONE.
On the general Hub side of things, TaxHelp is being phased out because of how challenging its been for everyone - timing and schedule wise as well as actual delivery considering the poor volunteers are overloaded with OUTSIDE clients which ATO has put through that have more than they have been trained to deal with. The Hub's name is definitely growing though - we have posters for people looking for volunteer puppeteers and can shakers for Poppy Day (Remembrance Day).
15 more sleeps!
