In my internship we got into a situation where one of the department’ superiors had allegations from all local media outlets .he was accused of corruption and mismanagement of the department. In one of my assignments i was asked to make questions concerning vision 2016 and one of my question was related to the current situation of the allegations .i submitted the questions to my supervisor for editing he omitted all the questions that were in relation to the allegations .when i ask why he told me that this situation was beyond their control .and i though that the type of situation has to be handled by the pr unit its self.
My question: is there any company issue beyond PR? Because all these allegations were not personal they were attached to the department.

NO that is the straight answer to your question. Public relations is the Dr that takes care of all communication problems associated with an organisation including the very scenario you just mentioned.
It is a pity that the supervisor undermined the role of public relations within the organisation.
Those allegations are worth damaging the reputation of your organisation hence creating a bad relationship between it and its stakeholders. It was a crucial act that you needed to undertake to make sure that your co-workers do understand the role and importance of public relations within the organisation.
I agree with you Kgabo, i have happened to have seen the allegations in the local media. The allegations already has a negative effects in that department, people have lost trust in the department superiors. This is a crisis on its own, that is where the PR people are needed to bring back the trust that used to be on that department.
The PR people now has a mountain to climb as they should work on rebuilding the repetition of department of broadcasting and services.
There is NO company issue beyond PR..
