MONTHS OF HARD WORK FINALLY PAYS :EVENT A SUCCESS!!!

Hello everyone

As i started the internship program, my supervisors gave me a task i thought i could never pull off niot even in a million years, the task given to me was to enusure that i help in making the most anticipated event of the year a sucess, the name of the event being "ABU digital brodacasting symposium 2011".

For months together with my work collegues we worked as a team to make this event a success starting from the writing invitations, double checking on the contact databse for most broadcasters who are members to the Asia Pacific broadcasting Union.Looking for sponsors and exhibitors and having to design banners and an advert to be placed on print media.with me being an intern i was afraid of making calls to exhibitors because i know with that came the responsibility of being paitent with clients, answearing to hard questions i could not understand myself.i had t have all the information on my finger tips.Since the event was held at a hotel i had to learn to make reservations for the delegates and sponsors in the hotel.Through out this whole time of going back and forth to my supervisors office to make corrections finally paid off.

On the 7 th March 2011, the event came to life, with so much to be done, i was ready for it all.i had do registration for visitors , delegates and memebers, making name tags and correcting them also escoting delegates around and ensuring that everything was available to exhibitors.Having to meet the CEOs of big media organisations from the world was such an honour and networking with them.

Over all i learnt a lot from the ABU, and this experience has been an amazing one, now i know that i will take what i have learnt in making an event successful and i hope that other Public relations students, will take what ever they are taught and apply it later in the working environment.

It looks you have been involved in a funny event! Hopefully you have learnt and gain experience. By the way, I do agree that making phone call to strangers is sometimes scary! Especailly when you need to answer those difficult and unsure questions. I have also been asked for making cold calls during my placement and I definitely hate it!
