Hi all,
just thought I'd let you all know that as a result of my hard work and dedication, Jackson McDonald has decided to extend my contract and employee me as their Marketing & Events Administrator! I am thrilled with the news and excited by the career prospects they are offering me. Further to this I am expecting my first business cards tomorrow which embarrassingly enough I can't wait for!
I have found the last three months have encapsulated so many different area's of business that I would never have even thought of trying. I find myself in positions of power where they trust in my ability to perform and encourage me to make decisions based on my own industry knowledge and experience. It's really empowering and satisfying to have a company of such high status support me.
It's also extremely interesting to bring forth public relations theory and principles to an industry that is relatively modest and conservative. I am now apart of our Community Committee which supports several charitable organisations such as Guide Dogs WA (who we are sponsoring for the upcoming City to Surf for Activ), The Red Cross, JDRF and several others. My creative side and writing ability is really relied upon here and it's great to know I'm making a difference in an industry you might least expect it.
I hope you are all enjoying your placements!
Kind regards,
Catie

Wow, Catie! That's so amazing! Congratulations on your job offer! That's definitely an aspect of this Professional Practice unit that makes it so worth while!
I was just wondering if you had any tips on how to make the most of this placement which could give us an opportunity to be in your place with a job offer at the end.
Congratulations again!

Hi Amy,
thank you for your well wishes!
For the most part I would advise having an open mind and positive attitude towards all tasks, big or small. I think it's great to show our academic ability but also to prove our willingness to learn and embrace the corporate culture in moving onwards and upwards a ladder. I think companies really appreciate when a student or graduate walks in level headed and willing to work on any basis.
I recently became involved in our Community Committee which has given me a lot of unexpected exposure. I would suggest getting involved where possible in the organisations specific committees, teams or charity fundraisers.
Best of luck with your placement and thanks again.
Catie
