The majority of you will be finishing your placements soon and taking away with you wonderful experiences and a greater understanding of what public relations really is. Although I will finish blogging I will not be finished with my placement as I was offered a permanent position here at Jackson McDonald and will continue to experience the rhythem of events, marketing and public relations.
I have organised 16 events for internal and external guests to meet our new team following the merger on September 1, 2011 in a matter of six weeks on top of my usual work load, it's safe to say I am tired! I certainly admire the people who are in events full time and have the patience and staminar to do it all!
Logistically I had all the alcohol and catering to organise including the systematic pick/up delivery of goods and coordination of waitstaff, chefs and kitchen hands. I also had to collate all the responses and create name tags which seemed the simplest task but became the most stressful. I have recieved great feedback from internal employees who have attended the events and also external guests who commented on the finer details and obvious effort that was put into to the organisation. It is always nice to know you are appreciated and be told you are doing a good job.
Good luck to those of you who are about to finish!
Kind regards,
Catie

Congratulations on gaining a permanent position, definitely the ideal way to finish this unit!
I was also involved in organising events for my work placement and I could not agree more that the tasks that seem small in relation to everything else are generally the most time consuming! Like names tags and putting together goodie bags, simple but I don't think you realise how time consuming until you are involved in the behind the scenes of event mangement. So well done on organising so many events!
