So I've now had 2 working days with my internship at Networking WA and so far it has been a great experience.
On Tuesday the 31st of Jan (yesterday) I found myself at the Perth Convention Centre at 6am - I didn't know such a time existed til then. Anyway so why I was there was because of an event called the 2012 Australian Property Outlook Breakfast. Networking WA had been hired by the Australian Property Institute to manage the event. My duties that morning was to greet the attendees of the breakfast and to assist them with receiving their name badges and correct table number and directing them to the right table if needed - this was what every one of the Networking WA team members were doing. It wasn't compulsory for me to go that morning but I was really interested to see the kind of events that the company deals with and it was a really amazing experience. Over 400 people attended and there were also small media companies present as there were 3 key guest speakers present. And I can tell you, it gets hard trying to think of new ways to say hi to people when there's over 400 of them coming through in about half an hour.
Then today at the office, I was asked to write up a blog post for their website on Networking WA's involvement in yesterdays event. I also spent the day researching potential clients and attendees for a big upcoming event - which I will leave undisclosed for the moment!
Overall so far, the internship has been quite interesting, the girls at Networking WA have been amazing and really helpful. I've found them very accommodating and never too sick of answering all my questions and always trying to think of new things for me to do!
