Hello world,
It has been sad to say 'goodbye' to my colleagues, director and event manager. My last day at Odysseus Public Relations Agency has been quite busy. I had to call all the Ministry's offices and ask for their Press Attache, then creating a database list for "Le Salon de la Communication" to be held on 24th to 25th of May. Unfortunately, I have to re-start classes on the 27th of February, otherwise I would have been working for this upcoming important event.
I had to write an article for "Grand Baie La Croisette" Newsletter. During my last two days of internship, I got the opportunity to meet Priscilla Haudibert from Celio Boutique at Bagatelle for an interview and to write an article for them. I also came to know the importance newsletters have for businesses. Newsletters are designed to be sent to customers to make them aware of the latest happenings of a company, new product launch, opening of a new shop or any other interesting stories that can be appealing and helpful to the customers. Whether internal of external, print or digital e-newsletter, the purpose of it is to address communications goals and objectives and to meet the requirements of the targeted audience.
Many organisations hire experts to write or print noteworthy newsletters. Despite e-newsletters, most companies still prefer the old version one- PRINTED! Full colour printed newsletters still create artistic/visual appeal to clients in association to the specific company. If you really want people to read your newsletters, you need to have a good recipe. Here are some of them:
1. Think timely- Always keep an eye on what is happening in local and national news, see how it can relates to your article in the newsletter.2. Be brief and concise- Communicate the message in the way readers need to hear, read in the most straightforward, pithy and efficient style possible.
3. Tell something timely- For instance, readers often ask themselves this question "What is in for me?" Show how your company's new product or shop can make your customers' life easier and show you competitive advantage. Two important questions you should definitely ask yourself are: "What do you want them to know?" and "What do you want them to do?"
4. What is news?- Show what is happening now and what will happen in the future.
5. Did you know?- Show your audience something creative and excited that can connect them to your company.
6. Choose an appropriate title and headline- More often, try to relate your newsletter title to your business actions, slogan and industry. Your article's headline can also be challenging for your company. So come with something spicy!
Poorly designed newsletters would certainly not be good in building your company's goodwill as it will not show professionalism in the way your business perform. A poorly created newsletter would also be disregarded by potential customers and be kept in a corner which will be forgotten and never be read! And so to forbid such thing from happening, it would be best to apply the above tips and to show value and quality throughout your business activities.
Goodbye people!
:)
