CHRISTMAS CHARITY

making a family and home in Princess Marina Hospital,the days unveiled nicely with learning outcomes that were impressive.on the second week of my placement it was the very week for Christmas,more charity,love in the air and jingle bells. we were preparing for such a heart warming and compassionate charity work for the Kids who have been abandoned by their mothers and are taken care of by the Hospital and those that are hospitalized together with their mothers for various illnesses. it is a yearly thing with different volunteers taking part in it and this time we were in conjunction with the Limkokwing University Botswana  who offered hampers,gifts,donated a Plasma screen and some kids movies and cartoons and in doing so we renovated the Kids Play Room at the PAEDS department where the screen was to be mounted and everything put in place for a conducive play room for the kids.this required utmost cooperation  with other departments and the sponsor/donor here Limkokwing,and i am glad their  PRO were impressed by the warm welcome we gave when they first confronted our office to give us the good news for our patients and thereon we worked nicely and they were good in what they were doing which made the duty much fun.

this required to get hands dirty,it was on short notice,as the internal team we had to take the role of monitoring the laborers who had to switch things and mount the screen in the wall before the day of presentation to the lovely kids. we even did the decorations as a team of ladies and i loved every bit of it.not only did we handle the field part, back in the office we had to prepare and Fax out media invites ,memos,emails and doing follow ups by phone. it was a bit of a juggle but for the love of kids and the Christmas mood we found fun in every part of it even though the responses from some media outlets was not what we hoped for,thanks to the Limkokwing Pr office they also helped in inviting the media.

on the very day of presentation,all went well,we helped in serving the dignitaries and our guests of honor but still full attention given to the very people who gathered us together-kids, as they enjoyed the celebration and loved the gifts and the new look in their play room, and their parents showed appreciation in this.

reporting back to  my superior she gave it all thumbs up and this gave me motive and confidence in working with her and i appreciated the good team spirit.

i loved the experience of event management and handling it with other partners gave it total good feel.
