GETTING AND ADJUSTING TO MY PLACEMENT

Getting a placement for my internship was definitely not a breeze. honestly, it was a lot harder than i expected. as we were required to do it the semester before the last, i figured it wasn’t that much of a task and put it off to do it with the semester, unfortunately, when the semester began, no one was taking in interns. this in turn forced me to defer my semester and head back to my country until the next began. being a dark period in my life, I’m guessing the negative energy i sent out wasn’t good for finding the placement. i was angry and unhappy, and couldn’t show enthusiasm at any interviews, meetings or even gatherings.
My mother however decided to take things into her hands and made me re edit my resume at least three times before making me resend it to every organization that could have a PR firm and look good on my resume still. Finally, my aunt who found the resume in a pile at her office pushed it forward and as it was in the coast, i got 2 weeks of relaxation and by the time i went for the interview its as though they wanted me to start right there and then, in other words i had found my reason for taking PR in the first place back. i was actually excited about it all, the waking up at 6 to be at work by 8, even the fact that Mombasa can get so hot i wanted to jump into the ocean once with my semi formal clothes on.
Employment of public relations specialists is expected to grow 23 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. Employment of public relations managers is expected to grow 16 percent from 2010 to 2020, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Growth of both will be driven by the need for organizations to maintain their public image in a high-information age and with the growth of social media. Compare the job duties, education, job growth, and pay of public relations managers and specialists with similar occupations.
