1st week in the PR field = Amazing experience

Hi to all,

I am Natacha , studying at Charles Telfair Institute, Mauritius. My internship is being done in a PR and communication agency name Imagine Communication.

During my first week of internship at Imagine Communication, I have learnt much that is helping me greatly and that will still help me for my future career in the PR field. Firstly, my supervisors over there have introduced me to the background of the company and their main clients.

Media and Press Relations.

Afterwards, I have started working on media relations for their three main clients which are Air Mauritius, Omnicane and Airbus. These media relations consisted of making press summaries from newspapers, online as well as on radio hits on issues which were published on their clients as well as their close competitors and issues related to the industry they are operating in.

This is an interesting way to start with the internship because in the PR field, the media relations are an essential part so as to follow where the clients are situated in the market and their brand image. I think that media relations are an integral part to PR, concerning the brand image and reputation. I have learnt the importance of proceeding with press summaries when working on them.

I have made the follow up for the Air Mauritius’ Annual General Meeting on radio broadcasting which was very interesting. Being one of their top clients, Air Mauritius wanted a detailed analysis of the media coverage of their general meeting which was entrusted to me.

1st Event: IBM Conference

My first event which I attended was a conference for IBM, a company which creates computer softwares and resells them to companies. I have acquired much of experience during this event as my duty, representing the PR Company, was to ensure that everything was going well during the event.

My first duty was to prepare the tags for the conference’s speakers, company’s employees as well as the delegates who were invited at the event. Before the opening of the conference, we had to distribute the tags and control who was walking in and which company they were representatives. Then, during the break time, I had to collect business cards with the delegates so that we can proceed with the feedbacks and so on after the conference and to update their contact list. After the conference, goodies from the company had to be distributed to delegates. This was an amazing experience from which I had the pleasure to assist and to be a delegate of Imagine Communication.

Thank you for your attention and consideration. Hope that you enjoyed my post; comments are most welcomed and I will be back soon to share the second part of my internship with you.

i also agree that media relations is an essential part of any company, understanding where clients are situated within the market and understanding their branding image can help organisations be more efficient and effective in communication with any stakeholder. making media relations so important within any company, Because really the reputation and branding can make or break an organisation and should focused on with importance.
