Press conferences and Media clippings

Hi to all,

In this blog post, I will share the second part of my internship at Imagine Communication with you.
I have undertaken various tasks with a lot of responsibilities and I have also acquired much of experience through these tasks as well as from my colleagues who share their experience with me.

Press conference
I have worked on preparations of press conferences whereby I had the responsibility of calling journalists after having sent the invitation to know whether they have received the invitation and who will be assisting the press conference.
My duties at the press conferences were to welcome journalists, note down their names and telephone number on the presence list and also to ensure the conference was taking place in good conditions.
Press conferences that I had the opportunity to attend:

« Colektif Kreol pou la Justice e la Verite avek soutien Centre Nelson Mandela pou Kiltir Afrikin et Kreol »

The first press conference which I attended was done by the “Colektif Kreol pou la Justice e la Verite avek soutien Centre Nelson Mandela pou Kiltir Afrikin et Kreol ” which was struggling against the Defi Media Group which had published an article about the wrong perceptions of creoles.
During this press conference, my duties were to welcome journalists and take photos during the press conference.

 The ‘Madagascar au Caudan’

Another event which I participated and attended lately is The ‘Madagascar au Caudan.’ It was done by the Embassy of Madagascar which wanted to promote Madagascar as a tourist destination as well as on the side of business.
The overall event consisted of the opening with a press conference and a ceremony and during four days, there was exposition of Malagasy’s products.
The event started on the Wednesday 22nd of  August with a press conference at the hotel ‘Labourdonnais’ where the ‘ChargĂ© d’Affaires’, Mr Richard Via has explained the aim of this manifestation.
These two press conferences were a great opportunity and experience whereby I assisted to official press conferences and which have helped me gain knowledge about how press conferences proceed.

Media Clippings
I have also undertaken other tasks such media clippings which consist of keeping all press articles related to our clients and file it for archives as well as for some clients. This was an interesting task which enabled me to understand the importance of keeping these records.
I have also worked on compilation of press articles for one of Imagine’s clients, which I cannot mention because of confidentiality, on special issue which happened. I had to look it up in the archives and had taken all the articles related to this issue and combine it together to send it to the client.
Putting into practice what we have learnt is such a great opportunity and I am enjoying and grasping all experiences and knowledge that are given to me.

Next post is coming soon,
Thank you,

Hi Natacha,
It is a very interesting article that you have written here. Working on events can make Public Relations very interesting as you can meet a lot of people and have new contacts.

Working with the Embassy of Malagasy, is a good experience when being a trainee as you can meet people from different cultures. You will learn from this experience in terms of behaviours and how to deal with those people. Regards, Ahmad.
