Family Fun Day/Events

Yesterday was the club’s Family Fun Day. I thought it was a really good initiative and it showed me the Glory are still a local club. Everyone seemed to know each other’s name and was happy to have a chat to one another, whether it was players or staff.

What I did wonder though, was if the Glory weren’t limiting themselves. Obviously this is something I’ll look at more closely in my report, but if all of the fans and staff/players seemed to know each other, does that mean it’s these same people who come to all of the events? Have PGFC been limiting the amount of people they reach? With it only being a week until the season gets underway, I would’ve expected a little more hype surrounding the event. Whether it means they need to explore other methods of promotion is something I’ll consider, but certainly that level of familiarity could be considered both a strength and a weakness.

One thing I noticed; events are long days. You have to be there hours before they start and hours after they finish. Particularly when you have to set up, it can mean the days are quite draining.

I did like having different things thrown at me though. At one point the Event Manager realised she was one generator short so myself and Mike McCarren had to race out to pick up another one at the last second. It was a nice distraction that broke up the day a bit.
