The Project

The Project
The project I am working on with 3 other PR consultants has incorporated my studies of working in groups, communicating and collaborating on projects together.
My role is to organise media partnerships, right up briefs, a contract and a proposal we will send them to negotiate a partnership between the organisation we are working for.
My job is to gain Media support to promote the event, however gain FREE work as we have no budget or means to money.

This again incorporates my skills of PR and reflecting on the unit PR techniques, what do we as a consultancy have to offer PCP and how we can approach media and get them on board.
An over view of PCP its been around for 21 year and has been instrumental in introducing a diverse program of emerging and established local, national and international artists to Perth’s arts and photographic community. It provides an environment that promotes the understanding, education and appreciation of contemporary photographic practices in the local community as well as providing a platform for international collaboration.

PCP exhibits the work of emerging and established artists from local, national, and international environments. Housing an annual exhibition program that includes individual shows, group shows, and awards that showcase landscape and portrait photography.

PCP places a strong emphasis on education and development of the arts, housing artist seminars and workshops and inviting exhibitors to speak publicly about their work to the wider community.
2013 is a milestone year for PCP, which will be show casing the exhibition Momentum. A coming of age story, about the gallery’s formation, the exhibition will also provoke discussion of the gallery’s future, new initiatives and growth. The exhibition is free entry to the public and will hold its official opening night on the 31st October 2013 at 6pm and will run until the 22nd December of 2013.
Based in the artistic hub of the Perth CBD in Northbridge, the gallery is run by Director Christine Tomás, along with a Development Manager and Volunteer Coordinator. A governing board of committed and hands-on trustees works to ensure the longevity and sustainability of the gallery. An independent, non-government, not-for-profit organisation, Perth Centre for Photography has strong local, national and international affiliations.

As with any successful not for profit organisation, a key factor in delivering success is our ability to ensure PCP’s long term sustainability through the implementation of its unique service to the wider community.
People are certainly the cornerstone and lifeblood of PCP’s success and our strategic plan articulates the importance of attracting, supporting, and retaining emerging and established artists through the diverse range of collections delivered. It is therefore vital we develop and provide an annual exhibition program to bring new perspectives on current and future photography to Western Australia.
To ensure maximum exposure to the highest calibre of artists, we need to garner significant support from the community each year.

The Perth Centre for Photography and Platform Communications will invite media organisations to become the key media partner of PCP’s 21st anniversary exhibit Momentum’. This would be an arrangement whereby no actual payment is required by either party. As the event is less than a month away its about getting the ball rolling and approaching media organisations now.

Coming back into the Internship and working for a consultancy, there is a hierarchy, all work must be approved by Seniors and the Senior working on this project has been out of the office with other work. Our time frame has become tight and pushing the project forward will be about proper time management.
All documents have been written and a media list of potential partners has been put together, once the proposal and list have been approved the next step will be contacting them and sending out the document. Once we get media partners on board we will start to promote PCP to the wider community and gain free exposure. Next step will be me needing to contact the media partnerships. It has been an interesting journey so far with the internship and I look forward to the next couple of weeks.
