First day on the job.

Interning at Networking WA has been a very interesting and knowledgable experience so far. Trying to absorb a as much information as possible can be challenging in such a fast passed environment. Networking WA assists, as well as run quite a number of events, and can be managing up to three or more events at the same time, as well as booking in future events.

After signing my contract as an intern my first item on the the agenda was to write my first piece of work which turned out to be a blog on myself and starting at Networking WA. I found that I was quite nervous to do the blog as it would be the first piece of writing they would get to see of mine. The blog turned out well and was posted on the Networking WA website blog, which was quite exciting.

With so many events on the go there was a lot of work to be done. One of my first tasks in helping to prepare for one of the events, which was a walk to support the homeless during Homeless Persons Week, was to find alternative entertainment incase the entertainment they currently had was no able to make it on the day. I had to make sure that the cost of the alternative entertainment did not go over their planned budget. As it was a charity event which had very little budget I found it quite difficult to find may options that would suite the event. The task was a great learning experience on how to research as well as make sure to choose the right entertainment for your event and keep in budget.

Rebecca Cole the owner of Networking WA is a former student from Curtin University has been of great help and very patient with me and all her other interns which makes the first day on the job and all the days that follow much easier. I know that there is so much more to learn and do and I am very much looking forward to working at my first event for Networking WA.

Hi Rebecca,

I have been interning for a not-for- profit organisation also called United Way WA. I also got to experience homeless week with cooking food for disadvantage people and writing a media release about this. Internship experiences like this not only give you knowledge and new skills in the PR industry but make you have faith in humanity, there are nice people out there. Im glad someone else is having a similar experience to me. My internship has been the most rewarding time of my life

Hope your enjoying yourself
