Wrapping up as an Intern

As my official placement has come to an end, I have been lucky enough to secure a permanent position at TPAL managing social media, and assisting with several other public relations projects. At the moment I’m in the midst of organizing an opening event for TPAL’s newest store to be located in Northbridge.

The event will take place early December, showcasing TPAL’s newest store and summer collection, inviting the WA public to take a step into the TPAL world and celebrate with us.

While it has proven difficult to secure food and liquor licenses for the event, other aspects such as a DJ, photographer and decorations have been easily ascertained. The event is set to be a fun, yet relaxed evening, giving attendants the opportunity to check out the store, the summer collection, enjoy some food and drinks whilst mingling with other guests.

Invitations will be open to the public and the event will be shared via TPAL’s social media channels in order to raise awareness and generate interest. In accordance with this, personalized invitations will be dispatched to Perth’s media, social pages and fashion bloggers, inviting them to attend the evening and further assist in publicizing TPAL in the local fashion world.

In accordance with publicizing the event, TPAL staff are set to be interviewed for an article regarding current events in Perth, with a particular focus on the current retail climate and up and coming fashion labels from Perth.

The article focuses on what goes into opening a retail store and the different levels of business such as marketing, public relations, design and management. Hopefully this article will assist in raising awareness of TPAL and generating positive publicity for the label after readers are given an insight into the preparation and planning behind such a project.

Looking back on my placement, it gives me great pride to acknowledge the different aspects and challenges that public relations has given me an insight into. I would like to thank the staff at TPAL, especially CEO Jessica Owen, for assisting in making my transition into the business world a positive one, and look forward to expanding on my experience with many more projects and responsibilities in the future.
