In my last post i wrote about how i had written and sent out my first ever media release.
Well.. I now very happily can say that i have been published in a newspaper following that release!
The article appeared in the Canning Times newspaper and while it may be small, all of the key information from the release was in the article and the organisation for whom i wrote the release had received calls about the event that the article was about on the same day that it appeared in print. Happy days!
It truly was one of the best days of my internship to date. My manager sent out an email to our entire comms department telling everyone about the article and congratulating me, to which i received many more emails from other comms staff further congratulating me. Something that is probably so ordinary to them they knew was a pretty big deal for me, and once again it goes to show how lovely, how positive and how supportive my coworkers are.
As i only have a month or so left to complete the required internship days for this unit, i am beginning to think i may stay around a bit longer if my organisation will have me. The lessons that i am learning are invaluable and the longer that i am able to stick around such a supportive environment, the better PR practitioner i will be.
