Media Clipping/Press Release

Hello fellow interns! Its been awhile after my second post, this will be my third post. Today, I would like to tell my fellow interns on my experience for dealing with media clippings and what I think of them.

Honestly, it's not as bad as it looks where you cut and glued the media clippings on to a paper. Sitting down with tons of newspaper in front of you and having your face with some black spots on your face can be boring and hell. But, we all know that media clipping is very important to any organization. Why I say it's important because as I'm doing my internship in Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri a public library, media clippings over here is very important to the PR officer. I've done the media clippings the day I started my internship.

For starter, my supervisor would write down the press release for any upcoming events or announcing any activities that is going to be held by Pustaka itself and sent them to the journalist via email. So far I'm lucky to be able and having the opportunity to write some of the press release for the upcoming events when I'm here. After that, we just wait for the press release to be selected and get it posted to any newspaper outlets.

While I was here, definitely feeling grateful and lucky as well whereas I get the change to do the media clippings and seeing some of the press releases that I wrote (which then my supervisor amend them) make the cut. What I'm trying to say here is that the feeling of joy and excitement where you find out one or two of your press release make the cut. It shows that you're doing a well done job as creating a press release for this organization shows that you reached the goals of your organization.

Such as, part of the press release to some organization is to promote the visibility and services of your organization to the public and also to it's part of reaching out to the public even better.

In a nutshell, PR officer plays an important role for organization as their are the people who people need when it comes to publicity and the bridge in the middle for the organization and the public.

Until then fellow interns, I hope you enjoy your internship as well!

i had the opportunity when i did work experience for a non for profit organisation to write up a media release, unfortunately the paper didn't pick it up, but i still remember the excitement i felt! It made me try harder so that the next time i write one ill make sure they can't resist haha :).

Greetings Gina!

Your most welcome Gina! Like I said, the excitement is just awesome. But at least we get a chance to create our own press release tho some might be amend by your supervisor and at the end of the day it's a learning process right?
I wish you all the best in your internship! Have a good day! :)

Hi Cassandra,

I found your post really interesting as I related to it quite a lot. I also spend a fair amount of time collecting media clippings during my internship and have began writing draft content for my company. I find that reading through the media clippings can be quite daunting, but also a great learning experience as it shows the standard of work that the company expects from employees.

Thank you for sharing.

Regards,

Sarah.
