So as part of my final blog I’d like to talk about the
future.
From our internship I think we have learnt a lot, about
ourselves, our industry and the general environments in which we will hopefully
be working in every soon.
Your self- I know
I’ve learnt what I want to do and what industry I want to specialise in. My
internship taught me specialisations and industry focuses which were fields I
wasn’t really suited for. Not because of incapability but rather personality
and interest based preferences.
The Industry- The
world of PR is fast moving, intense and all about networking. If you have good
media relation skills as well as good people skills you can go anywhere but it
is a dog eat dog world and you do need to take care on what you say, who you
say it to and watch your back at times.
The Environment-
My biggest learning curve is that a workplace needs to be positive and
productive and those that work in it need to be passionate about what they are
doing. I want to be in a position where I love me clients and sincerely believe
what I’m doing is for the best, for the good of the people around me and not
for commercial or momentary needs. Now I know money doesn’t grow on trees but
keeping your integrity as a public relations practitioner means for a happy
life overall even outside of work.
This leads me to some shameless advertising. This unit has
pushed me further to my dreams of having my own business and creating that
healthy life work environment while doing something I love. I studied public
relations and film and I’m starting this business which I feel is a perfect mix
of my learning at Curtin, experience and skills.
Company: Run Riot
Media
Target Industry:
Creative Arts (Film’s, theatre shows, festivals, exhibitions, music or other
creative outlets)
Objective: To
create digital content for client’s social media and online needs.
This means taking photographs for Facebook or of the
client’s event for their website. It means creating video opportunities for the
client whether it’s about their day to day tasks or an advert or introducing a
key figure of the organisation to their stakeholders. It means putting together
electronic press kits for live shows, films or events or even organising
launches and screenings.
I’m still working on the web design at the moment (I would
have loved to share some of my work!) but if you’re interested in collaborating
with me in some projects/ events or just meeting up for coffee chats, email me
at info@runriotmedia.com or remember the name and facebook me.
Thanks guys so much! Good luck to you all
