For those who are not following my blog posts, i'm currently doing my work experience with Crime Stoppers WA and part of my time with them is the complete restructuring of how we communicate with our stakeholders. Part of this would be the introduction of an online crime reporting form, and what better way than to go straight to the call centre and hear from the call takers themselves.
On a sunny Thursday afternoon, me, Mr. Kim Harrison (CEO of Crime Stoppers) and Jane from Clever Starfish (our website designer coordinator) travelled to the Midland Communications Support Facility of the WA police. This building houses the communication hubs for the majority of the WA police.
So after various security checkpoints, we reached the Crime Stoppers call centre. Unfortunately, i don't have any photos of the inside due to security concerns but it is only manned by three police officers at any given time. Do keep in mind though Crime Stoppers is a non for profit organisation, they rely heavily on government funding and grants to operate, hence CS cannot afford to put any more than three.
While here, i got to experience the day of a Crime Stoppers call taker as well as how Crime Stoppers works with them to achieve a desired outcome for the online reporting form. Altogether, it was a very fruitful experience i will never forget and will take away from my internship.
Love to hear if any of you had a chance to step outside the office and go on a similar trip to mine. Drop them in the comments as i would love to hear about it!

Hey Jaret!
You sound like your having such a good time on your internship, I would never of thought to do an internship at Crime Stoppers but now it seems like such a good choice!
I to have had the opportunity to leave the office, I attended the International Women's Day Luncheon hosted by Momentum Forum Events at the start of my internship and it was such a good experience. I think we all learn the most when we are out and about!
I hope you get the opportunity to go on a few more field trips!
Enjoy :)

Jealous of you getting to get out their Jarret... sometimes I dont even get to leave my desk for lunch! haha...
But there are the perks of doing lots of book launches at Fremantle Press, I get to go to the events!
Its nice to get out and about from the 9-5 desk life that I am sure you have become use to!
I hope crime stoppers is all that its cracked up to be and you are saving the world, one media release at a time :)
All the best,
Anouka
