One of the major do's I learned is to CONFIRM and CHECK anything before posting or releasing news of the event and the don't is to NOT PROCEED on an assumption.
What happened was TGV Cinemas stated that the screening time for the movie is set at 7.30pm with a remark saying the time is subjected to changes. We then proceeded, announcing the event by sending an email blast to all SOPB staffs and within the next 2 hours, all seats were sold. On the very next day, TGV Cinemas sent an email informing us the confirmed details with the time being changed to 8.45pm. And from then on, everything was a mess. Phone call after phone call, after endless liaising with TGV Cinemas, we finally managed to persuade and agree upon the initial time; 7.30pm. It was an eye opener for me to never take things for granted, to never act upon an assumption. Otherwise I would have to clean up the mess created by my own actions.
Always always always remember to do so! It saves a lot of time and energy!

HI Sabrina,
I had a very similar experience during my first few days of placement.
Check out my blog post 'Say 'Fact check' 5 times fast" on the other blog page if you like.
In short, we were sending out an email with media release attached highlighting the details of an upcoming event. After the release had been sent out, I noticed that the name of the venue was 'The Deen Hotel', which has now changed to the Game Sports Bar.
The girls in the office started to panic a little but quickly we managed to send the email out again with the correction but all I could keep thinking was how important our tutors had said fact checking is (over and over).
You never really quite understand everything from theory but this first little hiccup during my placement definitely instilled in my mind that fact checking is of the utmost importance in PR.
Did you think the company you are interning for handled the crisis well?
How was communication amongst other staff members while you were all trying to correct the problem?
Lucky the problem didn't turn into a crisis management scenario and everything worked out in the end!
Enjoy the rest of your placement :)
