My first pitch!

I've never been to Kuching, and I never would have guessed that during the course of my internship I would be sent to the capital of Sarawak, to meet with a executives of this giant company, but I was! Sitting at the airport waiting for my flight back to Miri, or my second home, all I can think of is that this internship is truly an awesome experience, and the best part of it all is that I am half way through.

She walks in, a tall executive by the name of Caroline and from her austere appearance she seemed like a formidable figure. Thank God she was not as stern as she looked. As I was setting up for the presentation, she looked at me and said, I don't have long, so make it quick and as I smiled and hurried along, the butterflies were not just gently flying around in my stomach, they were like jet fighters churning in my belly. I was not going to be defeated, I kept it short and sweet spoke mostly on the benefits her company would receive if they supported my event and to my surprise, they were impressed, most importantly she was.

As she asked me a few questions I could not but picture myself in her position, a corporate executive, running the PR department. At that moment I envied her, Before she walked out she looked at me and wished me the best of luck, and asked me to apply for a position at her company when I graduate. It was a fun and nerve wrecking experience, my first pitch! I think I could have done better, however I guess internships are a learning curve, and this is one I will never forget.

Wow! That sounds very intimidating, but extremely exciting at the same time. To know someone so high up in your field knows your face and recommend you apply for a job there. I can't imagine the nerves you would have felt but what a great opportunity and learning experience.

I hope the rest of your internship is as exciting and so is your careers.

All the best,
Briana.
