Week one is a wrap for me at my overseas placement The
Movement in London. The Movement is a lifestyle and entertainment
communications agency, however unlike many other placements, I am working in
house for a client, named SoHot. SoHot is a bikram yoga company based in London
who are currently in the initial stages of launching an active wear range.
I quickly have learnt that alike the city that never sleeps,
neither do I! The fast paced industry in London differs immensely from any of
my previous Perth placements. I’ve realized planning and scheduling is key.
SoHot is only weeks away from launching a new active wear range and the working
environment is exciting and busy.
At the moment myself along with a team of talented
professionals are organizing a creative photo shoot for the new clothing range.
Developing a creative shoot that is both unique and sparks an interest with the
target audience, proves challenging. We are able to source the talent for the
shoot globally. Having to deal with modeling agencies overseas has proven
difficult due to language barriers and time zones, however working on a project
that is this large is completely exhilarating and has opened my eyes to a whole
new BIG world!
Leading up to the shoot it is important everyone knows
exactly what is expected from each individual involved in the day. I now
realize just how important running sheets and event checklists are! I use to
think when reading an example of “8.04am arrival of caterers” wow, little OSD
with the specific time. But oh my accuracy and organization is GOLD. I no
longer wear watches as a fashion accessory, time is of the essence and watches
are my best friends. The industry in
London moves so quickly, you cannot afford to fall behind.
I am fitting so much into my working day; it’s really opened
my dark circled, jet-lagged eyes to what this amazing city has to offer. Bring
on the next few weeks!
How is everyone else finding their first week?
Georgia
